Thanks for the heads up Karl.. Gah!!!!

Classic Walmart response

"We consistently seek to sell only those products that meet safety and regulatory standards," Wal-Mart said. "Currently there is no required cadmium standard for children''s jewelry."

Luckily I buy as little as I can from China.

This one worries me because I am willing to bet my grand-niece has some:
"The Princess and The Frog" movie-themed pendants.
I will have to call her tomorrow.

Anyone tested their LOGR settings? Kidding.

Sad but does not surprise me. When my oldest daughter was young I would never let her wear jewelery for lead fears. When she was around 7 or 8, I bought her a sterling silver pendant and chain because she wanted a necklace. She was so careful with it that over birthdays and holidays I have gotten her several more. I am SO glad I went that route instead of buying the cheap possible lead/other toxic chemical stuff. I have never felt unsafe about her wearing what she has.

the times she has gotten cheapie type trinkets I have thrown them away. I showed her the article today when I saw it online and she was upset that this stuff was being sold to kids and she was happy I never let her have it.

thankfully my younger daughter has no interest in this type of stuff.

Ever since the lead jewelry stories came out years ago, if its metal and jewelry I would not let my daugher have it unless it was sterling silver.

This type of thing makes me SO angry that these toxic things are being sold to our children. Rember not that too far back to toxic pet food that was killing cats and dogs?

I don't understand why there can't be more quality control over what is being imported? And what about those workers in China who are working with this stuff. Surely they are being exposed to all these toxic chemicals and are not aware of it of have no choice because they need the money?

Sickning and sad.

This is so disturbing to me... I work in a very poverty stricken area, and a lot of the students wear "bling". I''m quite sure that a lot of it is purchased at dollar stores/wal-mart/etc... I almost want to post PSA''s all over the school to warn parents!!! (Not that many of them would listen anyways)
