Ok. You are probably wondering what on earth I am on. But I am curious. Would you be upset/annoyed/offended if you used a public toilet and the paper wasn't torn off evenly. For example it was all straggly and uneven at the edge, as opposed to torn off in a neat little line along the perforation?

Just interested to see you opinions. I always like to leave the toilet paper torn off in a neat line. Thoughts?

are you serious? this is the most hilarious thread on PS ever!

No, I don't care how the TP is ripped off. However, if it's hanging off, touching things in the bathroom, then I'll throw away the pieces that were touching stuff.

Oh, and I hate when my DH puts the roll on going "under" instead of "over""

At home I like the tp torn off evenly and I also prefer it rolled under vs over but my dh prefers it rolled over. Luckily we each have our own bathrooms 8-)

When I am in a public restroom I am just happy that there is toilet paper LOL and I don't care if it is rolled over/under or torn crooked or anything. Seriously if the bathroom is halfway clean and there is tp and there is actually soap and water I am over the moon happy. :cheeky:

I don't think there's really a proper way to address/manage TP in a public situation. Perhaps try and keep it from touching the floor? My bigger issue is when people pee on the seat. I'd rather waste my energy complaining about that. Now TP etiquette at home is an entirely different matter. I don't care if it's even/uneven/over/under, all I want is for the empty roll to be replaced! And leaving 2 sheets on the roll does not count as not finishing the roll.

Peeing on the seat is far more problematic. I don't care about way the TP is torn, but hate seeing pee on the seats. The offenders don't want seat germs, so they hover, and then end up peeing on the seat, and the reason the seat wasn't fit to sit on in the first place is because people are scared of the germs that their fellow hover-ers have also left behind. Sorry to rant. Its been a rantsy sort of day.

LOL I totally agree HH. Pee on the seat is gross and disgusting and that is why if the public bathroom is clean and has tp and soap, well what more can a girl ask for?
On a side note, it seems that men's restrooms are cleaner than women's restrooms. Can you believe it? I am going on a totally unscientific finding that everytime we use a public restroom I ask my dh how was the men's room and he tells me and usually the ladies room is worse!! Also, I know one of the restroom attendants (not sure what he is called) at one of the rest stops we go to at the shore while cycling and he confirmed this fact for me. What the heck is going on here? Are women such pigs? I always leave a neat seat :saint:

Oh Gee! A person who can get offended by the edge of the toilet paper needs some REAL problems in his/her life.

+1. Pee on seats is disgusting.

I actually really love the toilet seats that have the plastic covers on them (and you hit the button for a new one to be put in place). Though I do think of how wasteful that probably is. But I do like it.

And no, definitely wouldn't care about how people tore the paper off.

HH, lol, at my home, thanks to naughty kitties, our toilet paper roll is ALWAYS empty. We keep the paper under the sink and take it out only when we're using the toilet, otherwise the cats tear it all up.

Hahaha! This is true for me also. I personally do NOT hover and always leave a clean seat. I also tear the tp at the perforation so there's a clean cut sheet for the next woman.

At home, the tp rolls over the top and I also get annoyed when DH does not replace the roll.

HA! you just totally called out your geographic location BEG! O'Hare is the ONLY airport I know of with the automatic TP covers!

And BAD KITTIES!!!!

lol really??? I was trying to remember where I saw those covers because it seemed like it was only one particular place, but couldn't remember. I usually fly out of Midway. Dang, should book all my flights through O'Hare now!

And yes, bad kitties!!!

Hmmm maybe it was Midway??? I know it was one of the two!

Yah know we all have things we are picky about. For me it's lawn edges, and I thought I was weird!

I think you were right the first time and it's O'Hare. Midway isn't nearly as nice (though I think it's way more efficient!)

I hate Midway.

Anyway . . .
I don't care if the loo paper is jagged. Although I don't like it if it's all bunched up like someone grabbed a big chunk in her hand and tore off the piece beneath her hand. Then she touched MY loo paper. Icky.

I just try to avoid public loos altogether. When we travel I carry my own roll of travel loo paper because then I know nobody else has ever touched it. And I always have some if I need it.

Not at all. ::)

No not a dig at all, nothing personal. ::)

Doesn't bother me if it's jagged, as long as it's there. I can always pull a length of it and dispose of it prior to use. It drives me INSANE to use it after a hoverer has been in there (EWE!!!), and why is it some people just cannot be bothered to flush??? Seriously, do ya really think anyone wants to see what you've left behind? ICK!

I notice when it's all jagged, or worse all squished together. But I don't really blame that on the person before me, more on the tp and the dispenser. If it isn't to my liking, I'll tear that part off and start fresh!

You go me curious.
I just asked a friend of mine who runs a cleaning service with over 100 buildings.
He says 5 years ago the men's would be 2x-3x worse pretty much every time but these days it is more like 60% of the time the Ladies room will be worse and the men haven't got any better at keeping them clean.

Toilet paper Etiquette.....??

Ummm my expectations are rather low... I don't hold the bar high in any public restroom.... I will leave it cleaner than I found it, so will give myself some kudos for that... :praise: But overall?? YUCK!!!! :knockout:

mahhahahha! I love this thread! :appl:

I am so with you on the whole pee on the seat though - who are these people?!?!?! I was stunned to discover the other week at work, that the ladies here apparently need a huge sign in the bathroom instructing them on how to use the toilet properly! Like complete with cartoon pictures and all - crazy.

I don't know what made me think of it, I was making an effort to tidy the roll in the work bathroom and wondered, am I weird to be even thinking this? I must be weird to still be overthinking this!!!

Haven - I totally understand! I hate thinking that someone has touched my toilet paper, hence my policy of folding up and not using the first few pages, I know, totally weird!!!!

They do in the seven hills camp ground toilets in Italy as I discovered on my contiki tour

Honey we need those at my work I will not mention some of the incomprehensibly disgusting things I and others have found- man considering I work at a place where people should have more sense it sickens me seriously.

I also take off a fair chunk of paper before I use the roll ewwwww the thought of someone touching it icks me

Ohhh I could tell you some seriously gross stories about the ladies room in our office. We are a small office with about 10 females that share a 1-user bathroom. I have walked in and seen: #2 left in the toilet; blood on the toilet; toilet paper/paper towels on the floor; there's a constant lake on the counter (??); used tampon applicators very visible in the trash can (sits directly in front of toilet); an entire roll of toilet paper floating IN the toilet; the list goes on and on.

I really don't get it. I would absolutely HATE to see these peoples bathrooms at home

ETA: There was a couple of months where I was literally boycotting using the womens bathroom - I would only use the mens. And I think the mens was only a bit cleaner because there are fewer male employees there.

Thanks Karl- nice to know my unscientific data holds up...sort of. Wondered what happened 5 years ago that suddenly caused women to become such restroom slobs?
