in 1976 unleaded cost me 59 cents per gal.low grade leaded cost 49 cents per gal.premium leaded was like 54 cents per gal.

In 1969 you could get leaded regular for .34 cents a gallon or GULF Gulfcrest for .28 cents pg.

I want to say around $1.20ish? But I remember even before that when gas was like 79 cents!

I started driving in this year also and could have a fun weekend for $2.00. But you could get a new car for $4,000.00

I don't remember what gas prices were in 1996 but the price of crude oil was $22.84/barrel. Those were the days.

You must have been driving a big Buick. You could get a VW bug for $1,799.00. Bread was .25 cents a loaf and so was setting diamond meli.

I remember when $2 would give me 1/2 a tank! Dang , I must be old :)

I also remember seeing the new Plymouth Road Runner superbird in the show room for $3,500 and thought that was a kings ransom!

Eek!

That''s gotta stink!

I was picking on h2b. The year he was born...''67...it was $3.00 and change per barrel. I was born in ''77 and it was just over $5.00 for the first tier. I was picking on him saying that the year he was born he could have bought a whole barrel of crude for less than a gallon of gas today

Wow...your gas is still cheaper than ours! It went up to $1.25/litre ($4.74 gallon) yesterday! Bush must be doing something right. He buys it from us, taxes the shit out of it and then we buy it back???? Man... ANYONE can run for congress:)) Hats off to my other fellow stupid Ccanadians.

I can''t even remember how much gas was in 1971!

My new car in 1974 was a Toyota Corrola (sp) and I know that baby could go forever on a tank.

Now I have a Navigator - getting 14.9 miles per gallon.

Hubby has a Z-28 that has been souped up with chips and he gets about 21.

Daughter has a Mustang - don''t know her mileage

But dear son has left his 2000 Honda Insight at home instead of taking it to college this year. And that baby gets around

45 miles per gallon.

It''s mine as soon as I can clean it out!!!!

Soulsis, I couldnt believe the price this morning... $1.268 / Litre at Shell....HOLY SMOKES!
Lets see, I was 16 in 1982 & I think gas was $.35 / litre. (roughly 3 litres in a gallon). Oh well, so much for the "lets take a drive & see where we end up today" kind of stuff.

well now i am going to date myself but i remember that .35 gasoline.

i bought a brand new vw convertible 1970 savannah beige with black top for $2400.

my husband bought a new plymouth roadrunner 1969 for $3000.

we still have the vw and it is in great shape but stays mostly in the garage. my husband laments the fact that he got rid of the roadrunner after our daughter was born.

Oh wow, a Roadrunner!!!

My older brother had one, my parents bought it for him when he graduated high school, 1968. (or was that ''69) They had no idea what they were buying! It was bright yellow and was so fast. I grew up reading Road & Track as much as I read Seventeen.

they say something like $80 per barrel .

hey ann! this one was green. first car my husband ever bought. straight out of college and moved to my hometown. how lucky can a girl get. banjo

In the late 90s gas prices dipped below a dollar, somewhere around .96! That was amazing!
It''s also amazing that it didn''t seem so long ago - now talk of $4.00+ ?????

Scintillating....

Just three years ago, in ''02, we actually had some places selling it below a dollar. I think like $0.97.

I don''t really remember. I got my license in 1980. I drove my parent''s old 1970 Chevy Malibu, aqua blue with a white convertable top. Me and my girlfriends would all pitch in .75 cents to a dollar each, get about 5 gallons of gas, drop the top and ride around town all night. I''m thinking that gas was about .80 cents a gallon then.

1997, and gas was "expensive" if it was over $1!

When I started riving gas was 69 cents a gallon... Filled up the tank of my tercel (that would last over a week in heavy coomute) for 7 dollars

no df it was dark green with black interior. it sure made a lot of noise when he started it up after he brought me home from a date. banjo
