... for all Australians who are home, those who are living abroad, and to the newest people we have recently welcomed into our beautiful country...

:appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: Happy Australia Day!! :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl:

The esky is full, the sun is shining and the snags are ready for the BBQ!  Wishing everyone a wonderful, relaxing day celebrating our 'Great Southern Land' :wavey:

And good morning to the rest of the world of course!! :wink2:

Happy Aussie Day to you too!!! :wavey:

It's not quite Australia Day here yet

Do you have big plans?

I have taken the day off work and am going to relax and listen to the hottest 100 and cook some lamb chops on the barbie. No sausages, as the shop here didn't have any. Very unaustralian i say!!

It is supposed to be a cool 37 degrees here so it should be nice :)

Happy Australia Day!!!

Happy Australia Day! Our master plan for the day is to dig ourselves a lovely underground cave to stay cool, eat as much Cadbury as possible, and see the Skyworks fireworks at night. 41 degrees...seriously?! I groaned when I saw the forecast - hottest city in the country! Guess we're paying for having a tolerable Christmas this year!

Enjoy the day everyone! :)

Happy Australia Day

Delighted to be be here and loving this incredible place! :praise:

Ps My daughter, aged six is sooooo excited. We have our flags including a very large one for the house. She said "Mum this is so cool. How come we never did Australia Day in Scotland?"

Got to love them , don't you!! Plus we would normally be freezing out butts off right now!!!

i'm married to a Perth man and do have to note that AU cadbury is not what it used to be, sigh. happy AU day anyway! enjoy our day!

I miss Oz so very much :blackeye:

But Happy Australia Day!

Happy Australia Day!!! I´m from Brisbane but I live in Germany due to my husbands work (he´s also from Brisbane). We´ve just been home for 4 weeks, coming back to cold Europe was so hard! I do like it in Germany but I really miss Australia, it will always be my home. I miss certain foods and the beautiful sunshine, and most of all I miss my family :-(

Have a great day everyone!!!

I'm just hoping that my air conditioners don't explode from overuse! Planning on watching the cricket and lounging in the pool. Cannot stomach the thought of food at the moment - far too hot.

Hope you all have a good one!

So cute!

No big plans here...but a nice day off. Happy day to all the Aussies :)) Enjoy whatever you're up to.

Beautifully said, DandiAndi :appl: Happy Australia Day to all of our new citizens, especially Susimoo! Your daughter sounds precious (and even more so because I'm imagining that statement in a Scottish accent  ).

Hope everyone keeps cool (especially our Perth peeps), enjoys the Adelaide cricket match and Cadbury, cranks up the Hottest 100 and generally has a great day.

To all the Aussies overseas, we miss having you here but we're thinking of you. My brother is living in NYC so I can sympathise a bit. Tristan, are you an Aussie? I had no idea!

Happy Australia Day everyone!

Happy Australia day everyone!

My dh is asleep for night shift so my daughter and I are doing what we can to say cool.

Hope everyone has an awesome day! :appl:

Susie: your daughter sounds awesome.

Everyone's plans sound pretty good to me! DH and I are having about 20 friends over for a BBQ dinner, the weather here is about 26 celcius at the moment, I hope the mercury stays there! And I have Icehouse blaring on the stereo, I think we'll be hearing 'Great Southern Land' about 50 times today

Stay cool everyone!

Not an aussie, but studied and lived there for 5 years of my young adult life. Dam good fun.

Happy Aussie day to everyone too! Seems like I am the only one in Sydney and suffering from the rain! Seems like my Irish husband is more patriotic than me - he has had the Aussie flag on our fence since Tuesday! Nice to have a long 4 day weekend too - took an extra day. Hope everyone else had a great day x

what is aussie day? :read:

Australia day commemorates the arrival of the first fleet to botany bay in 1788. It's as important to us as 4th of July is to Americans. :wavey:

Happy Australia Day long weekend!! (I missed this thread on the 26th). Hope you've been safe and stayed cool
