19 months for us.

We got engaged 24/12/06 and we''re getting married 26/07/08

I wanted a summer wedding so it wouldn''t clash with a potential General Election in the UK and because the weather is nicer. There aren''t many venues near my parents and you have to book at least a year in advance.

My parents put the deposit down 2 weeks after we were engaged, by April 2007 there were no dates for 2008 left.

We both have high stress jobs and other political commitments, so I couldn''t have done it in less time than I have. It''s also been nice to have had time to take things slowly.

We already live together so it wasn''t as if there are any lifestyle changes in our getting married so why rush.

I do find it a bit weird when people get engaged and then don''t set a date for years - or at least a pretty good time frame like Spring 2009 or whatever.

About 10 months for us! Most people I know get engaged about a year from when they get engaged.

From our point of view, we waited 7 years to know that we were ready for each other, why get engaged and wait another 2 or 3 more years. Might as well get married! :D

we will have a nine month engagement. we have had no problem booking anything for our december 27th wedding

I was planning before the official engagement, but I am a dork. I wasn''t in a rush, just so excited!

Anyway, we got engaged this year and the wedding will be June 20, 2009 so that''s about 15 months I think? My math is bad.

We didn''t start planning right away. We''ll have been engaged for 24 months, but the planning process willhave lasted 18 months. For us, the engagement was a step in the relationship in itself so we took the time to enjoy that a bit before the next one, if that makes any sense. About wat the hurry is, you may not be aware that some venues and vendoirs are booked close to 18 months in advance. So sometimes it''s best to get a move on to make sure you have what you want!

I''ve already started planning but I''m not officially engaged yet. I know it''ll happen in October though.

The wedding is June 20, 2009...so officially I''ll have 8 months between engagement/wedding.

just under one year for us...i can''t imagine waiting longer.

16 months for us.

Our engagement will be super short. We just got engaged June 6, 2008 and we will be married November 2008. So 5 months. We''ll have been together for 21 months on our wedding day. There''s no "rush", we just really want to be married. Also we don''t live together--we want to officially be married before we move in. We started looking at venues 2 days after he proposed.

We''re having a 19 month engagement mainly as venues over here book up so quickly. We were only able to get a thursday in summer 09 when we went to book last year as all the fridays and saturdays were booked up during the summer until 2011.

Hi taovandel!! We''re wedding date quadruplets! There''s four of us now, woohoo!

Did you just type that correctly? 2011????!?

I got engaged in December and haven''t done a lick of planning yet. We''re enjoying this period, but I must say that I''m getting excited to look into venues and set a date!

Our 9 year anniversary is on Sunday. He proposed 2 months after we met. So... Over nine years. YIKES!

Exactly 18 months.

I think couples start planning right away because if you want a particular date or season you easily need to plan about a year in advance. Longer in a bigger city sometimes.

As a female I never got a break from people asking when the wedding would be as soon as we were engaged. No stage has been particularly enjoyable as a female. When you date for awhile you get asked when you'll get engaged. When you get engaged you get asked when the wedding date is. When you marry you get asked when you plan to have children. I've heard plenty of new mothers say they get asked when they plan to have another. It doesn't stop.

Actually, we had two weddings. Now that I think about it the legal wedding was planned in about 2 months but that was mostly because it was a court house wedding and had residency requirements for the area we got married in so we couldn't guarantee the date until about five and half weeks ahead of time.

I am in a similar situation. He is in the process of getting the ring. In the meantime because we wanted October 31, 2009 and we live in New England (which seems to be a big holiday around here - especially North of Boston where Salem is) we have set our date and have started looking at venues. Two places have already been booked so we were absolutely correct that we needed to get moving ASAP - even if the ring isn''t ready yet.

I consider us engaged now BUT going by the ring/one knee tradition, I think we will be engaged for about 12 months before we are married and the planing in total will be about 16 months.

We will both be in our 30''s when we get married so I suppose the "rush" is biological in nature as we want to have at least two children.

8 months but didn''t start planning until 6 months out. We planned two events in that time - a destination wedding for just family and a formal dinner reception back home for about 100 guests.

6 months. After 5 years I found it silly to have a long engagement unless we wanted to plan a big wedding, which we don''t.

Uhhhhh, 3 weeks for me. . .

W and I decided to get married 1/1/2006, he actually proposed 2/12/2006, and the wedding day was 3/9/2006.

And no, I wasn''t pregnant.

Engaged August 2006. Married October 2007.

Original wedding date was supposed to be April 2007; postponed due to employment changes. I could not have done it in those eight months really. I needed time to regroup and organize and plan, with time out at first just to enjoy being engaged. I highly recommend that you take a few months to just ''be'' after the engagement.

We were engaged in late December, and plan on marrying mid-October of next year, so I guess that''s about 22 months. I couldn''t really plan during the semester, and now that the semester is over...I still haven''t started planning. I really need to get on it.

Engaged: August 23 2007

First off we planned for the first week in Sept 2009 but now it is 2008. Figured "Why wait"?
