Princesss, and Arjunajane:

I agree that Mr. Depp''s acting is second to none and can only be enhanced by his close relationship with Tim Burton. I look forward to his disconcerting portrayal of the Mad Hatter, and would not wish to have anyone else substituted.

To clarify my previous comments, I was surprised that Tim Burton decided to style Johnny''s character in a drastic depatrure from the usual. Mr Depp''s dark hair and dark eyes contribute much to his natural attractiveness. In the past Tim Burton hadn''t realy altered this combination, and had most of Mr. Depp''s characters have slightly altered versions of this standard Johnny template.

I found the photograph of the Mad Hatter''s look to be startling, and a distinct change from the usual - so much so that the actor did not, to my eyes, look like himself.

I wonder if this foreign appearance signals us to expect a performance that is completely different, and perhaps more "way out there" than ever before?

Cheers,

HD

Hi HD,

thankyou for clarifying your comments, I really understand what you mean now.
I agree it is quite a large departure from his usual look, and I think it''s likely fully intended
so folks can get past the whole *sigh, johnny depp, heartthorb* thing, and see him fully as embodying the character.

That''s my theory anyways, lol..

Same for Anne H, without her distinctive brown hair (she still looks gorgeous as a blonde)..
and well, Helen always looks like a weirdo, rofl..

Either way, it looks like it will be alot of fun and I also eagerly anticipate the release

Gotcha! I agree with AJ. I think in part it''s Tim Burton''s sense of creepy fun coming out - I mean, really, how often do you get to go TOTALLY out there? And this way Johnny Depp isn''t trapped by the heartthrob issue. He''s just the Mad Hatter.
