I love anything Tim Burton and/or Johnny Depp(

), so I''m sure I''ll love it

I always thought this was a trippy, weird, slightly creepy story and I think Tim Burton is just the person to bring that out.

Plus, I just freaking LOVE Tim Burton.

I am oh-so excited about this! I teach children''s literature, and my students have been bringing me tips and tidbits about this for two years now - these are the first photos I''ve seen, and they are FABULOUS. Cannot wait!

Does anyone else think Johnny looks just like Madonna in his makeup?

I saw that pic on TV last night and honestly thought it was Madonna, in some weird makeup for a new tour or SLT! Just wondered if anyone else sees it too!

I will say Johnny Depp looks like the creepiest combination of Carrot Top and the lead character in A Clockwork Orange I''ve *ever* seen!

Can''t go wrong w/Tim Burton/Johnny Depp.

i love alice and wonderland, the original book and the disney movie. I''m so excited to see what magic tim burton put on it.
pinkisthennewblog.com has some pictures up of the characters up, and I was so excited to see his vision....amazing! I wonder if he is going to stick more to the book or to the disney version? I''m kind of hoping a mix of both!

The photo of Helena Bonham-Carter as the red queen terrifies me

Starset
You missed a few. Tim, Helena, Johnny, The man who played Saruman, AND the guy who plays Snape. Exquisite is an understatement.

Can someone please post a photo or two? I''m using internet that won''t let me look...

Pics...

(Who is playing Alice?

She plays somebody or other in "In Treatment" I think. But she''s relatively unknown.

Good. That makes me happy. I''m sure that she''s great if Tim thinks she can hold her own with everyone else that is involved...

I had heard that he does channel some people for his roles(Angela Lansbury for Sleepy Hollow) so you never know, but I don''t see the connection to Madonna except in the way that she''s starting to look like a man.

I can not wait to see the movie!!! It''s going to be awesome!!

So excited! I love Tim Burton... I also love Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. I can''t wait to see this movie!

When I first saw the picture of Johnny depp in makeup, whith those pale yellow eyes, it seemed to me that the same effect could be achieved, using Daniel Radcliffe, or even Elijah Wood instead. Barring the color, the makeup gives them a very similar facial structure:

Daniel Radcliffe

Elijah Wood

See what I mean?

Seems a bit of a waste of Johnny to make him look like Daniel.

I usualy enjoy the Johnny Depp, Tim burton combo (Ed wood, edward scisorhands, sleepy hollow) but there have been a few dogs (The corpse bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory).

I hope they do a good job - Alice in wonderland hold special significance
for my family as my very formal and staid grandfather was a huge fan (an odd slightly pshychadelic quirk for an otherwise dusty old accountant).

I guess I don''t really get the bolded part. With Johnny it''s all about the acting ability and his talent at taking characters and adding depth and a kind of creepy, unsettling feel. Daniel just can''t get that depth. He''s still in his infancy, career-wise, whereas Johnny has a rapport with Tim that can bring things to a much higher level.

Thanks for posting these -- I''m SO looking forward to this film! I haven''t been disappointed with any Tim/Depp combo so far and I think this looks fantastic.

Not sure why the link suggests that Tim Burton is going to make it creepier...I thought everyone agreed that the classic story itself is beyond bizarre.

Yeah, I don''t get it either - I think looks would def. be second concern here, ability and rapport first.
Plus, I don''t know who would rather watch Daniel than Johhny

Ara ann, I think it''s the gap in the teeth, frizzy hair and high cheek bones that you''re responding to - I can kinda see it too.
