I kinda think it makes the center stone look smaller. A solitaire setting seems to make a diamond pop, whereas a three stone creates more of a power bling look.

I think it can depend on the size and shape of the sidestones. If you''re talking 3 of a kind, I do agree it takes the spotlight away from the center. If you go with different shapes, I think it can enhance the center stone.

The left side is a hair bindy. When I do this, I SWEAR the stone looks so much bigger as a ''solitaire'' than a 3 stone.
