Thoughts/dust/prayers

I guess it''s my turn to ask for some PS prayers. My MIL is in the hospital again for the 4th time since February. She''s been going somewhat downhill since last summer. She''s been anti social and a bit of a hermit for several years-she and I weren''t on very good terms, so contact has been limited to phone calls now and again. In February, after a couple days of silence, JD was going to stop at her house to see if she was ok-but she happened to call that day, and ask him to bring her some water, b/c she''d been laying on the floor for 3 days and was thirsty.

JD and I both had been telling her to go to the Dr. b/c we thought she had a bladder infection and she refused. The infection got so bad she was delirious, and ended up in the hospital for 2 weeks-they also had to transfer her to a larger hospital an hour away b/c it was a strange infection that they couldn''t treat here.

After the 3rd time of this, JD made the hard decision to put her in a nursing home. She''s only been there about 3 weeks, and is back up to the hospital again. Dr. called a little bit ago and they think she has some sort of bowel obstruction. JD was up to see her this morning, and said she looks 8 months pregant-and she didn''t look that way yesterday.

Dr. also talked to JD about the Do Not Resuscitate form and quality of life, etc. It just sounds so bleak, and I feel so horrible, for her and for JD.

I just thought I''d ask for some thoughts and prayers for his mom and JD.

Oh, I''m so sorry! We went through nearly the exact same situation with MIL last year. In fact, today is the one year anniversary of her passing. Be sure I''ll be sending prayers!!

Haven''t heard anything else. JD said they were going to try and remove the blockage, and if it didn''t work, she''d be going back to the bigger hospital. When she was up there last time, about a month ago, they put stents (sp?) in her ureters b/c her kidneys were failing, and they weren''t sure how long it would work. Maybe other parts are failing now too.

I work at Dr''s tomorrow, so I''ll slip upstairs and see her.
