Yes it fades fast. It is the fastest fade. I love putting red in my hair and spend a lot of money on it and it fades quickly. I am sure though that women that spend $500 on a color job may have better luck, but my mother, aunt and now my sister all went to cosmotology school and they all say that red fades very quickly.
yup, like the first 3 washes - I had to invest in "hair dye" towels when I was a red head.
It does fade fast... like 3 weeks.

It fades very fast. I have dark blonde hair with natural red in it, and used to like getting it dyed to "bump up the red."
But if you are a natural redhead, it may blend in with your natural hair color better as it fades.
My stylist told me to wait as long as I could before washing my hair after dying it, so that the color would set. I also used special shampoo for processed/colored hair.
I''m a natural red-head too and didn''t want to ruin my natural color with dyes, so I occasionally use henna for a color boost. I know a lot of people are totally against henna, but I like it myself. It''s not supposed to ''cover'' gray, I don''t have a lot of gray hair (instead of getting gray hair, mine is clear, which is weird!)...but the henna boosts the red hair I do have...thankfully I have lots more red hair than clear hair...at almost 42 that''s fine with me! My gf''s have had to color their dark brown hair to cover gray since they were in their 30''s!
And you could go to a lighter shade, to mask the gray, like by adding a lighter blond highlight...that may not fade out as fast as red would.
