I'm sure some of you have seen this video on the interwebz. This poor guy!!! He's so cute and he tried to surprise his gf with a cute proposal. I have to admit, I would be mortified if my guy proposed like this, but how embarrassing for him to be completely rejected like that!!! It's hard to watch!

It depends so much on the people involved. If I were in the girl's place, I would probably be furious that he was turning me and our special moment into public entertainment and I would probably get up and walk away too, instead of playing nice. He knows I had this sort of thing and being placed in the spot like that. If he chose to propose that way, it would be incredibly selfish (and utterly impossible, since he is as private as I am).

It didn't seem real to me. Did he even say anything? It looked like he just opened the box and showed her the ring. If it WAS real though, I hated how the girl with the mic shoved the mic in front of the other girl.

Ditto this. Fake or not, I hope this video serves to deter other guys who may be considering public (spectacle) proposals. Surprise proposals and public proposals, and, even worse, the surprise-public proposal seem more about power and control than romance to me. There's a proposal involving a blindfold over in SMTB that truly creeps me out. What is with these guys? Some of these proposal stories read like bad pron

+100!!!! my friend and I always joked about the "jumbotron" proposal when we were LIWs!!! Absolutely mortifying!!! I would dieeee!!! Although for the sake of my guy's feelings I wouldn't run away. If it is real, he was TRYING to be cute, but I really don't think this proposal is anyone's dream come true!!!

I think that was a set up. Their expressions didn't fit what was happening. I don't know, maybe I am just cynical.

I don't think it was a set up. It was a UCLA-Richmond game that looked barely a quarter full. The fake ones usually occur at sell outs.

You can't fake that level of awkward. Poor guy! I don't think all public proposals are bad, it totally depends on the couple. I personally wouldn't have minded it but my fiance would NEVER want that. I really like the flash mob proposals, etc. as long as that's the sort of couple they are.
