At about 6pm my coworker''s wife called asking what the heck was going on with the MLK bridge and why was it closed. Since we can clearly see the MLK and Eads from our office, we went over to look.
THIS is what I saw.
He didn''t jump, but he got hauled off in a paddywagon.
That''s what we thought. He looked like he was just lookin out at the river, chillin, with no intention to lean. We were all standing at the windows staring.
We were half expecting him to get up to climb back over and then fall in but luckily he didn''t.
LOL, I just thought of something when you mentioned it was the MLK bridge. Does anyone ever see Chris Rock shows? Never been to one, but I see them on HBO. anyway, he had this bit a few years ago about MLK drive. Got me wondering about the MLK bridge near your work. He said something along the lines of ''ever notice that while Martin Luther King was a man who stood for peace, racial tolerance and a dream; any MLK street is always a ghetto?! Isn''t this ironic? No matter where you are in the US, if you are on MLK drive, you''re in the ghetto!''
(man on a phone): "hey bro, it''s me. Yeah, can you come pick me up? I''m lost" (other guy): "yeah man, where you at?" (man on phone): "yeah uh, I''m on Martin Luther King drive...." (other guy): "What?! You''re on MLK drive?! RUN!!! RUUUUUUUNNNNNN!!! Get outta there man, you''re gonna get shot!!!"
There''s an MLK drive by me, on the other side of town. Sure enough, it''s the ghetto!
Same here, we have an MLK that''s not the safest part of town! That bridge is NEAR the ghetto. Not sure if it spits you out on the Illinois side ghetto though.
