My ring finger is longer or equal but it definitely stands taller than my index finger if I just hold my hand up or lay it on the table. It''s actually closer in length to my middle finger if I just hold my hand up. Husband is the same - they may be the same length but his ring finger stands taller.

Actually, my ring fingers are a little longer than my pointer fingers. My husband must be an odd duck because although his index and ring fingers are the same height on his right hand, his ring finger is noticeably longer than his index finger. Huh.

I'm not sure the study cited says that almost all women have index fingers that are the same or longer than the ring finger. Part of the summary says: 'It is not uncommon for a man or woman to have a digit ratio that is typical of the opposite sex.' That would seem to be supported by the number of PS women who have indicated they have longer ring fingers - and that would include me.

"The Independent" from the UK is quoted as saying, "However, sceptics have observed that twin studies show that 70 per cent of the difference in finger length is inherited from our parents."

At first I thought my ring finger was longer on my left hand and the same length as pointer on my right. Then dh told me not to hold my hand straight up, but turn it sideways, and now both ring and pointer look the same length on both hands.

DH is normal and I`m not...
Now everytime I look down to check out my rings (which is a lot), I`ll see my abnormally long ring fingers!! Thanks!!

Both of my ring fingers are a good bit longer. Interestingly, a number of the characteristics associated with that do fit me! I played 3 college sports, love math/science, have great spatial reasoning and have been treated for depression for years. I'll have to check DH's hands.

ETA: Although, I suppose that when you toss that many characteristics into a "study," someone will sooner or later be a match!

Ok, this is weird. When I look at my fingers with the palm down, my ring finger is obviously longer but when I look at my fingers with palm facing up, my pointer finger is longer, although not by much. Does this study indicate which way you should look at your hands (palm up or down)?

i just freaked out about that too!

my DH has the shortest, funniest fingers. he has this huge palm, then tiny fingers.
but he''s tall and skinny, otherwise. its odd.

I admit I sometimes walk into walls, so the spatial thing fits.

And as a woman who will probably TTC at 35+, I am hopeful that the high fertility thing is true.

Funny - mine are way longer than DH''s (we''re the same height).
