Wedding This beats all!

Our RSVP date was yesterday and we''ve got 170 "yes" RSVPs, including from today''s mail. Everyone has responded except 54 members of my dad''s family.

I think the issue is that his family usually has buffet weddings, but ours is a formal, plated meal. I just cannot believe that people would be so rude as to not RSVP!

Some of these people never turn up to weddings, but would have raised a fuss if they weren''t invited. Others I''m actually relatively close to, so will be phoning them myself. Argh.

If my circle is any indication, that''s a normal late-(or no)-RSVP count. We had about 25% of our RSVPs missing two days past the reply-by date, and you have about 24% missing.

Just have your dad call them, since they''re his family. Everyone has missing RSVPs, no biggie

Well, I''m sure my count so far will make you feel better: our cut off date was september 12th, and out of 90 invitations sent out, we''ve only gotten 20 reply cards back. Maybe that''s a good thing since, of those 20, 5 of them wrote in extra people!! I guess the senility I always joke about having is a family-wide trait!

I never knew that people actually do this, but a friend of mine experienced the same thing, but not responding either way - how bizarre i think but apprently it does happen

Mine were due on Saturday and believe me, I have about 25% missing as well. I was talking to FI''s mom about it, and she heard from a family member that said ''well, we didn''t send it in, they know we won''t be coming''.... uumm then why the hel* did I stamp all those flipping reply cards!?

I think a lot of people (at least in my family and his) are not used to formal weddings where an exact count is needed.

And FI''s mom also said ''Can''t you just order a few extra of each entree''? UUMMM at 130$ a head I THINK NOT!

My FI''s mom said the same thing and FI said "sure sounds like a good idea". That was until I reminded both of them of the costs involved. Some people just don''t think...

Seriously. Plus, do they think you can carry around an extra table and chairs and place settings in your purse, just in case? Sheesh.

I know, right? Plus, we have a floral arrangement for each table, plus the table linens and chair covers. Ours is around $100 pp, but then each table''s linens and flowers adds $250 per table. We simply can''t set aside extra spaces "just in case". It would be a total waste of money for people who didn''t have the decency to let us know one way or the other ...!
