hahahah i guess you need to get with the times.. my mom texts me every night and my GRANDMOTHER has started.. it actually kinda freaked me out a little!

I don't know how to text

, but I might know if I had a DIFFERENT phone!!!

My friends send me texts all the time and I tell them good luck getting me to send you a msg back! They teased me and said it is easy let me teach you! Nope, my phone is too complicated for everyone (they say, oh I guess I can't teach you because I don't know how to text on your phone) LOL, so no texting which is good for me!

LOL! I''ve been teaching my Mom how.

She likes it. I don''t like it when she texts while driving though...

My mom is starting to text message.

My brothers put the T9 for her (where the words will spell out automatically to make it easier). Problem is that she doesn’t know how to switch it to a different word so I’ll get messages like this:

I hope everything is ok. Foot forget to call of.

What she means is “I hope everything is ok. Don’t forget to call me.”

Ha! Fiery, I send those and I DO know how to change the word!

My mother doesn''t have a phone so she definitely can''t text. My Dad is hilarious.. he reads them but doesn''t even attempt to reply. He just calls instead! My ten year old son has just taken one of our old phones with a pay as you go sim card in it. He texts with his first finger. Its so funny watching him poking at the phone with his finger outstretched!

Hey, I''m with you, DF: I *can* text, but good lord, I hate it. It takes 5 times as long to have a text conversation as it does to just call and say what you want to say! But, given that everybody else in the world loves it, I''m accepting it as a necessary evil ....

That''s hilarious DF! Not because you don''t know how to text, but because we tease my dad about it all the time. He''s much older than you, closer to 60, but we finally taught him how to text on his Blackberry (don''t ask how/why he has that phone when he only knows how to dial & answer) & now he texts us maybe once a month & we always get about three blank texts before we get the real one. lol

I love texting. People will call me and I’ll see the phone ringing, and then send them a text back saying that I can’t talk because I’m at the *insert place where you can’t talk*. It’s such a lie. I just prefer texts.

Nope! I''m still in my 20''s (for a few more weeks anyway!) and REFUSE to sent text messages. If it''s that important, I can email or call. It''s not worth my 20 cents per message or several more dollars a month added on my phone bill for the unlimited plan. I just don''t want to be THAT in touch, you know? Maybe it makes me old, but there''s only so much technology I need in my life. I learned to send my first text message a few weeks ago. I had gotten separated from a friend at a concert, and it was way too loud to hear the phone. Other than that, I don''t plan to send any texts.

I don''t know how to do text messages either. When I got my new iPhone last month they asked me if I wanted to activate the text message function and I said no. I could always get them to activate it later.

Sigh. I bought my 78 year old mom a laptop so she could surf the net for her needlepoint graphs and network with the other ladies. It''s been 6 months now and I''m STILL trying to explain Google and how Gmail works

Apparently technical literacy was not genetic. I was always an early adopter.

Uh, Kaleigh and Linda can I hide with you???

I know how but I absolutely refuse too.
My fingers are not built for small keypads.
My finger covers 2-3 keys so I have to use my fingernail to dial.

There are phones now where you can just say what you want to type and it''ll do it for you good for all the oldies in here
