Quick story: You and FI discuss getting married. Your beloved tells you to pick out your e-ring. He''s hesitant because of the economy and you decide together that you will forgo the e-ring. You decide on a custom wedding band. Your beloved then tells you there is a budget for the e-ring. The original e-ring design does not lend itself to sitting next to straight band. There is not enough time before the wedding to get the e-ring made. Which do you choose?

i voted for the custom band, becuase in my mind, thats the original E ring anyways.and then get a new custom e rign

I voted for the e-ring and a plain band because of the sentimental attachment I have with my e-ring that I do plan to keep it forever (i.e. no upgrade). The wedding band (to me) is more of an accessory to my e-ring and I don't think it will act as a symbol of our marriage and commitment.

This is tough, annadragon. I think you guys need to decide where you'd like to invest your money and which piece holds more meaning. When's the wedding?

We''re running off to a beautiful state park to elope next month. In other words we are getting married in the woods. Quite literally going camping and tromping off into the a picturesque spot and getting hitched. Our best friend is officiating. I''m so tickled!

that is awesome! congrats! so is your wedding band custom already?

It's a stock band that I customized a bit by adding in different stones and having a slightly larger width. Nothing overtly unique, but definitely something I'd wear forever. I would have gone for Mokume gane but I didn't think it was in the budget and now we are in a time crunch

thats a tough choice, but i would say if you love the band, but want a custom E ring (and can''t have both) use the band as a RHR?

You can always get a straight band for the wedding and eventully wear it as a RHR. You will still have the sentimental value...

I voted for the wedding band because I can have an ering upgrade, but I don''t want to have an upgrade of my wedding band, to much sentimental value.

I voted for the custom wband. You can get the ering after the honeymoon. Opinions look pretty split, huh? I''d been thinking about your question all day. Yeah, I say go with the wedding band, save up some more dough, and then if you want later, get a custom ering that will go with it. Oh man, as soon as I typed that, I changed my mind. I''m absolutely ZERO help to you. Sorry!!!!

I do love the title of this thread. It made me say aloud "One ring to rule them all...."

We went ahead and ordered the wedding band since our super-secret in the woods elopement is a month away.
It is this band from Whiteflash but with green tourmalines in place of diamonds.
We''re leaving the e-ring option on the table so the w-band may go onto the right ring finger later, I''ll just tell people I''m being a chic Euro copycat
