I was like, oh hey, those guys are playing the CSI theme song!
My DH called this one

Do you guys REALLY think that they were playing live?

It was unmistakable that the singing was live, but there were MANY times that the base guitarist (sorry don''t know the names) was doing windmills and absolutely NO guitar music was being played, and some of his windmills were barely crossing all of the strings. Not to mention he played for about 5 seconds after the song ended, and you couldn''t hear anything then either.

I dunno... maybe not? The music just seemed a bit "too" perfect.

Being from the generation of The Who, I enjoyed them. Yeah, it wasn''t perfect and they are getting older. But so are The Stones!

I enjoyed the show actually...

i never watch SB half time shows.

My son and husband watched the SuperBowl here in Australia this morning. I came home and said"OMG that just sounds like a bad WHO recording" DH was quick to tell me it was a bad WHO but it was live at he Superbowl. Please explain people why someone thought this was a) A good idea
b) entertaining

I am watching right now here in OZ (i think it''s a repeat on our sports channel) and i had to ask FI who they were!

I didn''t think that it sounded the best but i also contributed it to being in such a large arena.

I am enjoying the commercials though!

I actually didn''t think they were that bad! I was mildly entertained at least and was tapping my foot to the music.

HI:

My husbamd is enamoured with them as he saw them in concert while in UNiversity--but I could have lived without Pete T''s ''belly'' shot....

cheers--Sharon
That was this year''s wardrobe malfunction. I didn''t care for it, either.

I also thought they sounded awful. I''m sorry, millions of dollars go into the SuperBowl and they can''t find a decent halftime act?

My sister sat there for 3 minutes wondering if he would have it in him to twirl his mic like he used to, when it was clear he wasn''t going to- she youtubed the janet jackson halftime show and watched that instead! lol
I thought it was pretty good though

Really? I thought it was fairly good. Better than the usual old-guy rock that they bring on for half time.

But maybe I''m biased because I love the Who. I honestly didn''t think they were as bad as I expected (I have extremely low halftime expectations). Certainly not as bad as Mick Jagger a few years ago!

eta: Daltrey''s voice was far better than Townshend, but Daltrey did most of the singing anyway. Townshend did sound really rough. Daltrey''s also never been a perfect singer - he''s always been more of a shouter, but that''s his style.
Ditto this! I love the Who. Last time I saw them in concert was in the mid 1970s. Pinball Wizard brought back such memories (Tommy).

BTW.Pete Townsend is almost completely deaf.

Geezers can jam, too!

Well, some geezers can jam. And some sound like Billy Crystal''s Old Jewish Man character.

Yes, Springsteen, I''m talkin'' ''bout you.

I thought it was entertaining... the stage and laser show was cool.
Not the best singing, but I''d rather listen to classic rock than some of the popular stuff out now.

My nominee for OLD GUYS WHO STILL ROCK is The Scorpions
Together 45 years. Still sound great. Have just finshed their
last album and will retire after touring the world for the
next few years. Klaus Meine will be 62 in May.

Agreed.... This is a tough crowd

I got to thinking... maybe the Who didn't come across as well as they might have because... well, we're talking about senior citizens trying to sing an anthem to teen rebellion.

Maybe they should have chosen a more "age appropriate" song.

So... what rhymes with "viagra," anyway?

It''s nice to see other people than sex-pots type gracing the TV screen every second. I thought they were fairly good as well!
