AH... as the song says, "Nothing matters but the weekend.... from a Tuesday point of view", so what are the things that you most look forward to (or LEAST look forward to doing, depending on circumstances) when the weekend hits? A time to kick back and relax or is this when your life goes into hyper drive?

I'm up at 0550hrs every week day and on the weekends, my bladder forgets its Saturday or Sunday (damn it) so a "late sleep" is maybe 0630 - 0730.... pathetic :nono: I like afternoon naps (my kids are grown, I can do that kind of thing now) and I love entertaining and having company over. Household chores keep us busy and we try to put errands onto 1 day only. Other than that, it is a great time to relax, enjoy our home, spend time together.

What do you do on the weekends???

Ah weekends, they are the best aren't they! Just the knowledge that I do not have to set an alarm and wake up (at the freakishly early 4:40 AM time) is pure bliss for me. Sure I wake up early anyway (my body also doesn't realize it's the weekend darnit!) but I don't have to get up out of bed. I usually get to sleep in till 5:30 or 6AM if I am lucky LOL.

It depends on the weather but for us, if the weather is nice (not raining, not freezing, not boiling) we will head to the shore for the weekend and cycle by the ocean. Heaven!

If it is raining we might head to an outlet (luckily for me my dh loves shopping almost as much as I do LOL) or if there are any good movies playing we might do that. Or make plans with friends to go out to dinner.

This weekend we have an annual August party to go to at the shore- our friends love to throw parties. Every couple of weeks there is a party down here. The August shindig is always fun -though I will be "working" the party to see if I can find a home for Blu (stray cat). Wish me luck!

Just the freedom of the weekends are what makes them awesome IMO. Ofc there are chores to do which I get done on the weekends like laundry and food shopping but everything seems sweeter on the weekends.

I always prefer an active weekend while my dh likes a mixture of relaxation with on the go activities. We have been at the beach this week and I fear I am running the poor man ragged. It's hard for me to be inactive and I love PS because that is my relaxation time.

ETA: Enerchi, I'm so jealous that you are able to take naps- I wish I could! But no matter how tired I am I just never seem to be able to nap in the daytime. You go girl- power naps are great for your health!!

Weekends are the best. I love spending time with my husband, going to the movies, going out to eat, visiting my parents and his family, seeing friends, taking day trips together, etc. Even if we're just hanging out at home doing our own thing, it's nice to be together. I also love to take long afternoon naps on the weekends.

Missy, we're the same way with our weekends. I prefer to be out and about doing various things, but my husband likes more low-key weekends. We usually do a mix. Saturdays are often "my" days, where we go out and do the things we don't get to do during the week, and Sundays are "his" days, where we usually spend the day at home. It works out well.

Summer weekends mean the local farmers' market early early Sat. You have to arrive by 7 a.m. if you want full choice. It's a tiny market & I love talking to the farmers, smelling the freshness of the grass, aroma of baked goods, and the brand-new morning air. Easy to make it because I wake up at 3:30 or 4 a.m. 7 days a week. Can't seem to do anything about it, but do take nice naps with one cat snoozing on my hip, another on my shoulder, & the dog parked alongside.

Tonight a college classmate is in town on business & I'm meeting her for dinner at a tapas bar, should be fun. DH is delighted to have a chance to eat junk food prepared (bought) by his own self.

My weekends start on Friday and end on Sunday...I look forward to sleeping in, my alarm goes off at 3:30am during the week, on the weekends I am usually up around 7:00am. I try to get all my errands ran on Friday's, cleaning on Saturday and laundry on Sunday....so my weekends are just, work, work, work....my hubby works on the weekends so we never entertain anymore..oh well I guess I will have to wait till retirement to do things that I want to do......

I work every Saturday and have for the last 3 1/2 yrs. It's getting really old. And now I'll be working Sunday as well. DH works Mon-Fri so Sunday was our day together. I opened a retail store/pet spa and didn't have the budget the first two years to hire someone as a manager. My son works with me so after two yrs of six day work weeks I finally started taking every Sun off. Then my Sun employee who worked with my son went off to college. The store is too busy for one person to handle so until I can find another dependable employee I'll be there all weekend. Blahhh, Boo, Hiss!!!
I have a total of 4 employees but the schedule was set a particular way and they all work Saturdays as that is the busiest day. At least I can take 1or 2 days off during the week. We have gone on two mini vacations but both times I had to be back to work by Fri.

DH got a Harley for his 50 b-day. We imagined going out on long morning rides, stopping for breakfast, doing all the charity runs.
Turns out I've been on the bike twice all summer. He rides it to work everyday so at least he is enjoying it.
I don't like riding at night very much, it makes me nervous, so no after work Sat rides. I feel bad, he doesn't want to go on weekend rides without me.

Cross your fingers for me that I find the right person to hire soon.

oh - that sucks woofmama, that you haven't been able to spend as much time as with "woofdaddy", as planned! Good luck with new staff hiring!

So far this weekend, I've gardened & weeded, done laundry and hung up 4 loads of laundry outside to line dry in the sun and breeze, dogs have had 2 walks yesterday, cleaned top and bottom levels of the house and had a lovely nap yesterday afternoon  Today - hang out in the basement. I want to live in an empty warehouse - I don't want to have all this crap that we seem to hold onto! Our street is planning a community garage sale in a month, and I'd love to download stuff then. Ame's thread has me inspired!

We also started season 6 of Dexter on DVD (Doomsday Killer with Colin Hanks and Edward James Olmos) and we are blasting thru that!
I love weekends :appl:

I work on weekends. Right now I'm working as many weekends as possible each month so I can have two days off during the week to stay home with my new daughter. So far my husband and I have been able to avoid daycare, so working weekends is an ok trade-off for me! Another advantage is that I can run my errands during the week and easily find parking and get in and out of places pretty quickly. You won't find me at Target on a Saturday with an influx of 40k students coming back to school!

 Woofdaddy  You crack me up Enerchi! I'm going to call him that this week for giggles & see what his reaction is.

Did a trial run yesterday with a perfect job candidate. She managed a very busy & well respected dog daycare for the last 5 years.
She is expecting, due in Jan, & wants to slow down her pace a bit. My store is all about customer service, educating people about food, etc.
We are busy & it can be hectic but very different from where she worked. It won't be as physically hard on her.
She managed 13 employees & the daycare had 70 dogs a day.
I loved her, just need to teach her all the nutrItion info. My staff and DH were critical of me for hiring an expectant mom due to the fact that she will be off again when the baby arrives. I feel differently as I have always worked, had two sons, had very successful careers.
I think it will work out though. She plans on taking 8 weeks off when the baby arrives. So I'll be juggling Sunday again. So be it. Perhaps by then I'll have hired another staff member. Wish me luck!

I so want to start watching Dexter. Never got hooked on it so maybe I should get the dvd's starting with season one. That could be a winter project.

Glad you had a productive weekend. I hear ya about cleaning out the house has been nagging at my mind.I have so many things that I never use, crystal, china(from my 1st marriage), decor stuff, clothes I'll never fit in again. It is tempting to purge the house and sell some of this stuff. DH is like Felix Unger, so he spends loads of time on the weekend organizing stuff, cleaning & filing papers, etc. I am very lucky in that respect. I come home on Saturday from work to freshly washed floors, clean bathrooms. He is a very good man. =)
