I kinda like a little speculation now and again, so I will here. After the Justice Dept notified White House counsel that Flynn might be subject to blackmail and no action was taken by the President, the FBI or CIA decided to force the issue. Someone leaked the info, after some solid reporting, much like Watergate. (a big leaker). I think the intelligence agencies are very concerned about this Administration. Leaking get issues the attention they deserve.
The current President would not have taken any action unless he was exposed. I expect more of the same in the future.

I understand that. But I also have a son in this community and the leaks are a concern to all of them.

This is consistent with one explanation I've heard, which goes like this: General Flynn lying about the calls made him a security risk, because a hostile government now has information on him that could be used to compromise his position as the President's National Security Advisor. Under those circumstances, since (as DJT acknowledged) the White House had this information and chose not to address it, I can understand why someone who had that knowledge chose to leak it to the press.
That is of course a different question than whether the leak was legal.

The leaking that is coming from the different agencies, especially intelligence agencies, is definitely a huge problem and undermines the administration based on what appears to be political ideologies. There are very specific regulations to protect identities of Americans during phone calls made with a foreigner that have been recorded or listened to by the likes of the NSA, CIA, FBI, etc.

Here is an interesting article on the illegality of the leaking going on and why. There is explanation on the FISA court.

So, the leak isn't true, but they are going to seek out and prosecute the individual(s) leaked the information? How does that make sense?
