I think I'd paint it like one pissed off ladybug buzzing down the road :cheeky:

It looks like someone squished it!

It's a dwarf!

It looks like a distant cousin of the VW Beetle! They are supposed to be fun, plump, nostalgic cars. This looks like it is trying waaaaay too hard to blend in to the market of cars. :nono:

I had one and it had a big pink flower on the side (sigh....unfortunately I never scanned the photo into my computer)

But how about this one?

DH is a VW nut so we go to car shows and he has pretty in-depth conversations with the dealer whenever we're in for an oil change. The word is that VW is trying to appeal to the average American and becoming more generic.

Apparently the new Jetta is a nightmare. Loads of issues and just not the quality seen in previous year's models. They are manufactured in Mexico, which is not unusual for VW, but the plant was not designed by a German team. In the past, VW would send a team of experts to set up a new plant, but now they're hiring locally to keep costs down. There are a lot of hickups and the inexperience is showing. You have to wonder when the cost of the car drops $10 000 from one model year to the next.

The people we've spoken to are really annoyed by what's happening to the brand. Apparently they're trying to compete with Honda and losing a lot of the features that make them unique and desirable. The new Beetle is just another example.

The sunroof makes it look like it's frowning!!

Yep, the article stated that they were trying to appeal to the male audience more. I would love to have a beetle, if they weren't such statistically unreliable cars :(sad

It looks like cromagnon Bug

It looks like a beetle crossed with a mini cooper. I had a '97 Cabrio that was full of problems. I'll never buy a VW again.

Too bad & short sighted. Every brand that compromises its basic strengths to compete w/something else eventually loses it all. I bought a Passat wagon about 8 months ago & am in love with it. One deciding factor in buying it was that it was the last German-build year for this model. Hoped that might help w/trade-in or resale someday. Also contributes to its feeling sturdy, quiet, no rattles -- and boy, is it comfortable, like driving an armchair down the street.

I have a German built Golf and there's no comparison between it and a Jetta. The Jetta was rattling and had really bad air noise. Even the armrest in the back had issues. The Golf is quiet and so far I have no complaints.

DH wants that Passat! We saw the new one at the Toronto Auto Show and we prefer the older models.

That beetle is lame.

I Was thinking they should do something kooky and make a scarab version of the beetle. I Was looking around for a scarab to base it on and found there was a scarab car in 1930.
