Hi everyone,

Has anyone read this series? I just finished it and absolutely LOVED it! Best series I have read in a long time.

Would love to hear from other fans of the series!

I just read about the final book in today's NY Times Book Review, and promptly added the series to my "Must Read" list!

I am just starting Mockingjay and OMG - do I LOOOOVE these books! I can't put these books down! By far a must read! :appl:

I am looking forward to see The Hunger Games come to life on the big screen in 2011!

I don't know what I'm gonig to read after Mockingjay? :?:

Read it! And nearly died of impatience waiting for Mockingjay to come out. It's a great series. Very violent for sure, but Collins does a great job developing the characters and presenting an interesting storyline. I felt like she did a good job with the secondary characters too, and a really good job making Katniss tough but not unlikeable. I almost liked Catching Fire more than The Hunger Games, because of the interperson dynamics in the second half of the book (I don't want to say more in case someone hasn't read it yet).

I'm on the last book. I'm so glad I discovered these books after the third book had already been released. I probably would've gone crazy with anticipation. I really hope when they make the movie they don't try to make it too teeny bopper.

I had to wait for Mockingjay! I hope the movies don't emphasize the Twilight-esque love triangle or whatever. The Hunger Games is about so much more than Katniss-Peeta-Gale.

I barely even notice the Katniss/Peeta/Gale thing. I just love having a flawed heroine who is so real.

That's the point! It's not a huge gigantic ZOMG love triangle like Twilight, and I keep reading all these reviews that compare it to Twilight because there are two guys and one girl.... :knockout:

I'm astounded by the author's creativity when it comes to those death traps. Book 2 was pretty awesome, and I loved some of the secondary characters she added

I just finished. Wow. That's all I will say now. Wow.

I have to say I didn't like the third book as much, because they killed off my favorite character!!! I don't want to ruin it for anyone, but the character was introduced in Book 2, and I was PISSED when he/she died.

Yeah, there were lots of deaths, but I think they were all kind of expected. I thunk it added to the "realism" of it all. I will say though, I cried more than once. I kinda want to start them all over again.

the entire series was awesome, best read in a long time

You should! I love re-reading some of my favorite series, especially when one of the movies is about to come out! DH teases me about how I can re-read books multiple times, but I love doing it

MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR

I broke down and borrowed the first one from my cousin. I resisted, thinking it would be like the whole Twilight bandwagon which I still refuse to jump on..I read the jacket and thought oh, ok, sounds like something I'd like..I tell you what, I was so lost in it, it made me sick to realize there were more and I was sitting on the couch w/only the first one. I called the library in a panic to find out there were 200+ people on the waiting list..tried not to cry or get mad, facebooked my cousin and got the other two. Fantastic. Definitely ones I would own.

Haven't seen the movie..not sure if I want to..I don't normally like movies after I've read the book.

I didn't think I'd like it either, but I borrowed the book while on vacation with my FI and his family last year around Easter and it was SOOOO good! I read the books after his mom and sister and we all went to the movie together. While the movie was alright, I don't think you would understand it as much without the book. It wasn't terrible, but of course they changed up some things.

Being a Teen service librarian at the time, I was one of the few who read this when it was first released. Loved it. I grew up reading SF like Heinlein's juveniles and this fit right in to my tastes. Couldn't really say the same for the second and third books.
