I REALLY hope admin stickies this. This is going to be our daily inspiration thread. Fill it with things you find inspiring. Quotes, pictures, song quotes, poems, exerpts from books, anything and everything that will inspire folks. This will be a great place to come to inspire ourselves, and give ourselves a pick me up when we need it. Here's my contribution for the day.

"Still, I'll rise"

Love this idea!

Here's mine for today, not particularly inspiring, more of a thought (Is that okay Dragonfly?)

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle. ~Plato

Anything and everything Ilander.

A few more:

"Even on my weakest Days. I get a little bit stronger."

"Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise,
That I dance like I've got diamonds
Meeting at my thights?"

"Hello world./How ya been?/ Good to see you my old friend."

"Adventure is out there."

"Dream until your dreams come true."

Time to Say Goodbye

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_JLkIOnq04&feature=related

When I'm alone I dream of the horizon and words fail me.
There is no light in a room where there is no sun
and there is no sun if you're not here with me, with me.
From every window unfurls my heart the heart that you have won.
Into me you've poured the light,
the light that you found by the side of the road.

Time to say goodbye.
Places that I've never seen or experienced with you.
Now I shall, I'll sail with you upon ships across the seas,
seas that exist no more,
it's time to say goodbye.

Andrea Bocelli
When you're far away I dream of the horizon and words fail me.
And of course I know that you're with me, with me.
You, my moon, you are with me.
My sun, you're here with me with me, with me, with me.

Time to say goodbye.
Places that I've never seen or experienced with you.
Now I shall, I'll sail with you upon ships across the seas,
seas that exist no more,

Both
I'll revive them with you.
I'll go with you upon ships across the seas,
seas that exist no more,
I'll revive them with you.
I'll go with you.

"You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand."
Woodrow Wilson

My favorite puts life into perspective for me.

"You don't have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body."
--CS Lewis

And, something to always remember.

"It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages."
— Friedrich Nietzsche

I love this one, iLander. It reminds me to be more thoughtful and forgiving.

"To ease another's heartache is to forget one's own."

"If you're not having fun, you're doing something wrong."

Great thread DF.

"Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way."

— Martin Luther King Jr.

Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it. Groucho

but only empties today of its strength." Charles H. Spurgeon

"The only things that stand between a person and what they want in life are the will to try it, and the faith to believe it's possible"

This is a great idea! I just looked through my books hoping to find the perfect inspiration and hopefully will come across some great ones...

"Three Small Rules For Living a Happy Life:

1. Start each day with a grateful heart.
2. Focus on the positive aspects of every person you encounter.
3. End each day with a grateful heart."
by Lucy MacDonald

Another:

"It isn't where you came from, its where you're going that counts." By Ella Fitzgerald

A more humorus one:

"The Mafia
you've got a friend in The Family" By Neil Stephenson - book Snowcrash (reading this book right now)

you have not lived a perfect day, even though you have earned your money, unless you have done something for someone who will never be able to repay you............unknown

...Attitude to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think, say or do. It is more important than appearance, gift, or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day...I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes.
- Charles Swindoll

Some quotes from a classy, wise woman:

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
- Eleanor Roosevelt

A woman is like a tea bag - you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water.
Eleanor Roosevelt

Do what you feel in your heart to be right- for you'll be criticized anyway. You'll be damned if you do, and damned if you don't.
Eleanor Roosevelt

Happiness is not a goal; it is a by-product.
Eleanor Roosevelt

It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness.
Eleanor Roosevelt

We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face... we must do that which we think we cannot.
Eleanor Roosevelt

Phenomenal Woman (Maya Angelou)

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

~Dance Like No One's Watching~

We convince ourselves that life
will be better after we get married,
have a baby, then another.
Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough
and we'll be more content when they are.

After that we're frustrated that we
have teenagers to deal with,
we will certainly be happy
when they are out of that stage.

We tell ourselves that our life will be complete
when our spouse gets his or her act together,
when we get a nicer car,
are able to go on a nice vacation,
when we retire.
The truth is there's no better time
to be happy than right now.
If not now, when?

Your life will always be filled with challenges.
It's best to admit this to yourself
and decide to be happy anyway.
One of my favorite quotes comes
from Alfred D Souza.

He said, "For a long time it had seemed
to me that life was about to begin -real life.
But there was always some obstacle in the way,
something to be gotten through first,
some unfinished business,
time still to be served,
a debt to be paid. Then life would begin.
At last it dawned on me that these
obstacles were my life."

This perspective has helped me to see
that there is no way to happiness.
Happiness is the way,
so, treasure every moment that you have.
And treasure it more because you shared it
with someone special,
special enough to spend your time...
and remember that time waits for no one.

So stop waiting until you finish school,
until you go back to school,
until you lose ten pounds,
until you gain ten pounds,
until you have kids,
until your kids leave the house,
until you start work,
until you retire,
until you get married,
until you get divorced,
until Friday night,
until Sunday morning,
until you get a new car or home,
until your car or home is paid off,
until spring, until summer,
until fall, until winter,
until you are off welfare,
until the first or fifteenth,
until your song comes on,
until you've had a drink,
until you've sobered up,
until you die, until you are born again
to decide that there is no better time
than right now to be happy...
Happiness is a journey, not a destination.

So, Work like you don't need money.
Love like you've never been hurt and
Dance Like no one's watching.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Words from a great man:

Believe you can and you're halfway there.
Theodore Roosevelt

I am only an average man but, by George, I work harder at it than the average man.
Theodore Roosevelt

In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.
Theodore Roosevelt

It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.
Theodore Roosevelt

Never throughout history has a man who lived a life of ease left a name worth remembering.

The human body has two ends on it: one to create with and one to sit on. Sometimes people get their ends reversed. When this happens they need a kick in the seat of the pants.

Real Women Have Curves

© By Anonymous

Real women have curves, wrinkles, and flaws.
Each one earned with experience, perseverance and determination.
There's no computer to airbrush your mistakes.
Let them make you who you are.
Love every mark, every scar, every extra curve you wished to go away,
Accept what you can't learn to love,
Then let go of what you can't accept.
Treasure them for their memories
Like a worn love letter or ratty old quilt from generations of old.
Each wrinkle comes with the wisdom only years of life can give.
And life is not to be hidden or covered up.
For life is how a girl grows into a woman
And real women have curves.

Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ardor and diligence.
Abigail Adams

I've always felt that a person's intelligence is directly reflected by the number of conflicting points of view he can entertain simultaneously on the same topic.
Abigail Adams

Become so wrapped up in something that you forget to be afraid.
Lady Bird Johnson

I have been very happy with my homes, but homes really are no more than the people who live in them.
Nancy Reagan

Those who are lifting the world upward and onward are those who encourage more than criticize.
Elizabeth Harrison

George Bernard Shaw:
You see things; and you say "Why?" But I dream things that never were; and I say "Why not?"

Walt Disney
The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.

Mark Twain
Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great ones make you feel that you too, can become great.

Thomas Edison
The three great essentials to achieving anything worthwhile are; first, hard work, second, stick-to-it-iveness, and third, common sense.

Keep the quotes coming!

I need them :blackeye:

I am feeling so discouraged and want to give up & these quotes have been helping!

"In a hundred years we'll all be dead."

I have no idea who said it, but I use it with alarming frequency in meetings with ridiculously unnecessary stress over stupid sh!t to put things in perspective. And believe me, it is not because I don't care, but sometimes you just need to realize that armagedden will not be upon us if someone does not put a cover on the damn TPS report!

Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.
Harriet Tubman

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
Eleanor Roosevelt

Don't waste your life in doubts and fears: spend yourself on the work before you, well assured that the right performance of this hour's duties will be the best preparation for the hours or ages that follow it.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Do not anticipate trouble, or worry about what may never happen. Keep in the sunlight.
Benjamin Franklin

I failed my way to success.
Thomas Edison

We learn wisdom from failure much more than success. We often discover what we will do, by finding out what we will not do.
Samuel Smiles

I was never afraid of failure, for I would sooner fail than not be among the best.
John Keats

One who fears failure limits his activities.
Failure is only the opportunity to more
intelligently begin again.
Henry Ford

What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?
