So this is happening: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cwy3zjxy3dwo CDC? What CDC? Why do we need the CDC? Let's cut government waste! Wait.....

And.... can I find a reliable US news source these days? Nope. The 4th Estate is now as tainted (or more tainted) and corrupted as the other three branches of government. Most didn't even report the attack on the CDC or if they did it was on page 5. And did the President say anything condemning it? Not that I saw. The media has been bought and sold! NPR ? What's that?

What international news source do you check for news about major US events? Cause I'm going to need a list please.

If you haven't already, join Bluesky. There are quite a few independent sources on there.

Not defending generally, but the attack on the CDC was very well covered in both my local news and other news stations that I watch. It pretty much took up that whole day on one station.
I look at https://ground.news/ because they report stories on the same subjects from right, middle, and left sources. I haven't looked at Bluesky yet, but I know many go there.

We are all screwed.

What can any of us do?
Be a billionaire!

Barring that ...
Disconnect from media, especially all "anti"-social media. :knockout:
Shut down your news feed.
News feeds are "curated" ... NOT TO GIVE YOU WHATEVER IS TRUE, but to give you WHATEVER keeps you glued to your screen ... !

How can they get away with that?
By you agreeing to allow them to spy on your online activity.

Subscribe to legitimate newspapers, on paper, like The New York Times.

Take up gardening, piano playing, or calligraphy.
Find like-minded quality people to associate with ... there are still a few.

This disconnection is easier for me because I had no children.
One's kids makes one care/worry/stress more about our grim hopeless future ... that is, unless you're a billionaire.

I still read WaPo and NYT but I have to limit that as it leaves me muttering imprecations.
And I need my peace of mind.

Same. It was all over NBC nightly.

I watch the cable TV news network MSNBC and almost every show has had a segment about the CDC since Trump announced the firing of Susan Monarez, the CDC Director. It also showed an interview by Jen Psaki with Dr Demetre Daskalakis, who resigned in protest from his position as director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases. He was greeted outside the building by hundreds of his fellow workers and supporters when he and two colleagues resigned in protest at the lack of science being used at the CDC yesterday.

WELL! I just stumbled across a great journalist. Palki Sharma. She is an international journalist and I love her.
