"The both of you" = Proper grammar?

DH and I don''t agree on this. I think that "the both of you" sounds awful. I can''t articulate why but it doesn''t seem right to me at all.

Who is correct?

I believe you are correct, I think it''s either "both of you" or "the two of you."
 
i shouldn't even be chiming in considering I use improper grammar all the time ...lol however, I ditto mschusion here.

mscushion sounds correct to me, too, but then again, English was my worst subject.

i think the both of you is incorrect, now that i have seen the way it is supposed to be used. i am sure i was taught that somewhere along the line, but like many others i dont always use correct english or grammar so i know that i have said it before
