Over the years I''ve had lots of yummy meals, some in very nice and often not so fancy restaurants around the world and in my own backyard.

DH and I had an incredible meal in a London Indian restaurant about 20 yrs. ago. So much time has passed, but I can still

remember the explosion of flavors, colors and tastes. The restaurant was a bit of a dive, but the food immediately took

your mind off your surroundings.

That little ice cream place in Paris - forgot the name. The raspberry ice cream - intense, I''ll never forget it.

Mahi Mahi prepared like I''d never had before at Nick''s in Maui - devine stuff - melted in my mouth.

But - my favorite restaurant is Mark''s in Houston. Every meal I''ve ever had there tops the one before. Pure perfection.

(the best crab cakes in Houston are at Vic and Anthony''s ;-)

Mahi Mahi in Maui -- say it three times fast. I did and for some reason, I can''t stop laughing.

Hmmm the first thing to come to mind was when I was in college, my roommates had all gone out to this great Mexican place on campus (I had a conflict) and we later went out to a party and came home at like 2 am and were STARVING (and pretty intoxicated) and we woke my poor floormate up to ask for the leftovers which had for some reason all gotten put in her fridge.

I have no idea what it even was but it was a Mexican goodness of cheese and meat and tortilla and I just remember thinking "this is the most amazing thing I have ever eaten" I''m sure it was a combination of good food and the state we were in but I still think of that as one of my best and most appreciated meals.

I also had this really great honeydew sorbet from a fancy restaurant in Chicago that tasted the way a really great flower smells... that''s probably the best dessert I''ve ever had.

My husband is a chef, so I''ve eaten some pretty tasty things in my life. But, looking back I''d say my favorite thing I''ve ever eaten is eggrolls.

Growing up my family lived next to a lady who was from Thailand. She made the BEST eggrolls I''ve ever tasted. She ruined any other eggroll for me, to this day even. She even made home made sweet and sour sauce that was out of this world. yummmy....

Veal with marcalla wine lemon butter sauce....with some type of cheese on it and sliced mushrooms at a local resturant. It is to die for...

yep its gotta be truffle cream pasta for me...no matter really where ive had it (though mostly in Italy) its always a taste sensation to me

Homemade cheesecake at a restaurant in West Glacier, Montana. It had a berry mixture with sauce on top. It was divine.

This was over a week ago and neither of us have ONE answer yet. Which made me wonder...is this typical? Does this mean we have too many favorites?

So what''s the best thing you EVER ate?? And if you can''t think of one, top 3??

I have been thinking about this all day, and I would also have to be someone who doesn''t have one clear answer. Or really even 3. I have eaten some incredible food and can think of several contenders or food experiences that I remember fondly, but there isn''t a clear winner for me.

lol katamari, i know i just don't think i can pinpoint one thing ever. there are certain things i really love at 'certain' times. i also was telling my hub that i think a big part of it is ... is it something you can get often? because then you might not think of it as the BEST EVER. but on a vacation to a far-away place, if you only have it once and you think about it all the time, then it would def achieve 'amazing fabulousness' status in the mind.

i do have to agree with a lot of the posters that truffles just somehow make things way more divine. i have had some really amazing dishes with truffles in them...mac n'cheese, fries, soups. yummy.

on the more simple food because of some big event..aka getting out of the hospital and eating the best grilled cheese ever, etc... i do recall when i got my wisdom teeth out and could only eat soft foods for about 2wks...the only thing i could think about was the Dennys Super Bird. i was 17 so my palate was not quite yet REFINED or even developed. anyway it was the best thing i ate even though i could mostly only still gum it at the time. i still have fond memories of that.
