Wedding Thank you notes before the wedding

Hi All,
I am going to be ordering my wedding stationery in a couple of weeks, and I wanted to go ahead and order my thank you notes now, too. I plan to write thank you notes for gifts as we receive them, but I''m wondering which stationery to use for gifts we receive prior to the wedding. Should I use stationery with our married names on it or my personal stationery with my maiden name on it? If I should use my personal stationery...what should I do when we receive a gift from my fiance''s extended family or friends (i.e. someone I don''t know)? I doubt there''s any way he''ll actually write them himself!

Use the stationery with your maiden name on it before the wedding, and then switch to that with your married name after. As for your fiance''s family, surely they will figure out who you are when you reference your wonderful fiance in the notes that you write to them. (e.g. . . . Maxwell was so touched that you remembered his affinity for the color green when he saw the gorgeous serving platter. We cannot wait to have you over and put the platter to good use after the wedding in June . . . )

I did three sets. One was for before I was married, it was a few months in advance and we had gotten engagement party gifts and early wedding gifts. It had my maiden name. I did not get tons of them but got enough. Then I ordered, closer to the wedding, ones with both of our names and my married name. I like my own married name and not his for my own notes, but the ones from both of us are nice too. Figured I would be sending the bulk of the notes after we were married, but until then used the ones with my maiden name.

Thanks everyone! I don''t post here very often but I read many of the threads and really appreciate your advice...especially Haven the etiquette maven. Diamondfan, that''s a great idea to have 3 sets of stationery...sounds like I''d be covered in every scenario!
