So…the cutest baby in the world entered our family about 6 months ago. People have been so kind and have showered him with lots of lovely gifts. I had a system for getting out thank you cards within a week or so of getting gifts early on. Well, this past weekend, I got out my stationary box to write a thank-you note to MIL’s close friend who popped in recently and left a gift for DS. To my horror, when I opened the box, there were four thank you notes that I had written but failed to send almost THREE MONTHS ago!
First, I’m really embarrassed. Second, three of them are for MIL’s friends so I feel terrible for making her look bad.
What would you do? Pop them in envelopes now and send them? Re-write them acknowledging that they’re long awaited? I don’t know if there’s any true etiquette with regards to a situation like this but I feel awful and want these women to know that their gifts were MUCH appreciated.
