Some of you may have already read that my grandmother passed 2 weeks ago. I personally have received some flowers sent to our house, and a few sympathy cards for the funeral.

For those who sent us flowers. I have already sent them thank you cards. I am not sure about how to respond to the "thinking of you with sympathy cards" though. Should I also write them "thank you" cards? or should I email instead?

Thank you for your input!

Zhuzhu, FWIW though I don't send thank you cards for greeting cards in most scenarios, I did for those who sent them after my relatives' passings. Besides the traditional words of appreciation for thoughtfulness, I also included one of the little laminated cards which were available to those who attended the services in person. I assume the senders sent the card because the person was affected by my relative, and an acknowledgment would help with their own closure/peace in a small way.

I'm sorry to hear of your grandmother's passing, Zhuzhu.

Last year a friend of ours who used to be a congressman passed away. I sent a sympathy card and in return received
a small card that read something like "Thank you for thinking of me" from his wife. I never would have expected
it but did appreciate her acknowledgement.

Sorry for your loss. :halo:

I don't think you have to send anything but I'm sure a quick email email or short note would be appreciated.

Sorry for your loss.

Zhu, I have no advice for you, but I just wanted to drop in a line to say I'm really sorry for your loss. I hope you and your family are doing well.

Zhuzhu, I am so very sorry for your loss. hugs

When my MIL passed away the family sent thank you cards; I thought that was a bit odd, but not sure if that is the norm. I wish I had an answer for you. Hopefully someone who knows will chime in.

Thank you ladies for your kind words.
