Does anyone on PS do Tai Chi?

I just started Taoist Tai Chi in the spring and it's been a really wonderful antidote to sitting at a desk all day. (Quite affordable too! - $35/month for unlimited classes)

If you do Tai Chi, what style do you practice?

That's cool! Not offered anywhere around here but I'd definitely sign up if it were!

I don't do Tai Chi but I have a great story about it! My godfather has been practicing Tai Chi for as long as I can remember. About twenty years ago he came to stay with my family for a week on a visit, and did his Tai Chi in the backyard of our small townhouse. Well, one of our neighbors saw him and thought he was doing some kind of satanic worship ritual, and she called the police! My parents had just moved out of Chicago and into a bordering suburb, and they took this as a bad sign that suburbanites live in tiny, terrified little bubbles. :cheeky:

Ha! Your poor parents! I hope they didn't regret their decision to move. Your godfather sounds like a cool guy.

He's awesome. Very calm and grounded. I have to assume the Tai Chi has something to do with it. I've actually always wanted to try it . . . hmmm, the time is now, right?

My parents have been in denial about living in suburbia for over 20 years. It's actually quite amusing. :cheeky:

DH has been doing Tai Chi for some time. He began by working from a tape, but is now going to classes through Community Education. He has completed the Yang 24 and is now working on sword.

Several years ago we vacationed in Hawaii and stayed at a B&B. The cook's dog took an interest as DH did his morning practice on the balcony. It was the funniest thing I have seen in a long time. I called the practice "Tai Chihuahua", and wonder if it might catch on?? :naughty:

Fly Girl, that was awesome!

I've been doing Tai Chi to a video for a while, and I love it. It loosens up joints and muscles that I would otherwise never pay attention to. I am trying to avoid being a stiff old lady. It's surprising how it really does give you a workout. My DD, who's a teen, really complains when we're done.

I'm hoping to find a class someday (I live in dorksville).

I've been a Taoist for many years, and it comforts me. The Tai Chi is a new experiment for me.
