I just bought a tag red cotton tablecloth and I really like it but i''ve mostly decided I''d like to stick with white linens in my dining room. Casual but not too plain. Textured maybe but 100% white. Eyelet, battenburg, etc are fine. I''ve been loving a double thickness of two white tablecloths I have - one is just the plainest mixed blend, white, surge hemmed, table cloth you can imagine and atop that I''ve put a 100% cotton white table cloth with battenburg style cutouts.... I didn''t like the wood showing through so I layered them and *loved* the look. I liked that two thickness was more protective of heat etc. as well (though we usually throw placemats atop for when we eat. We have one table - it is in a "formal dining room" but the room is NOT formal or is semi-formal, and we use it for every meal all day. The walls are 87 year old dark pine and there are corner shelves in EVERY corner that I''ve filled with white ceramics. There are built in wooden (think like 1920''s danish or something lol) valances that I''ve just thrown a mix of white lace tablecloths over for an eclectic effect. I not too long ago got a new table that is 72" long with an 18" leaf and it is rectangular. My last table was smaller and oval so nothing works anymore. The room is a bridge between my very "cool" living room and my very "warm" kitchen. I was leaning toward bringing more red in there but after buying this table cloth and playing last week with the layers of white, I''m totally sold on layering white and forgetting the red.

So........ long story long, does anyone know of a good source for 100% cotton, preshrunk, machine wash/dry, totally white, rectangular tablecloths in a variety of textures or styles?

Here''s the table cloth I bought.... http://www.surlatable.com/product/id/125239.do

and some I found at crate and barrel http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=440&f=2141

I prefer the "airline" style of the red one but wish it were white.... but would like some with cutouts maybe for layering.... I dunno, its so hard it seems to find white tablecloths, especially for a minimum 72" table - am I shopping at the wrong places? Anyone have any ideas? I hate shopzilla so I refuse to look there LOL

Oh, and here''s a pic of what I''m dealing with...... (I need a permanent solution to the curtains too but that''s another story LOL) Oh, and also - if anyone has any ideas of how to hang those white platters sitting on the wooden whateveritis on the wall above it, I''d be much abliged - they''re HUGE but I still want to be able to use them - I use all of the ceramics in there, well almost all of them LOL

here are the colors from the adjoining kitchen:

and one more - a closeup of the sheers in my livingroom that I *lovelovelove* and is a perfect example of white/white texture that I just dig. I would love to find a tablecloth like this but of course thicker and the correct size LOL I could layer this over another one, but I don''t imagine it would hold up very well LOL!

I found this site, and some of these are fun.... but of course the ONE that fits my table has color and it isn''t quite my "cup of tea" LOL It is a great price too - but it is linen and I actually have no experience with linen - can you bleach it if needed? Is it white white? I always think of it as slightly offwhite..... hmmm..... anyway, the last one on the page isn''t bad (I like the styling of the other one better, wonder if they can sell it to me BEFORE they put the appliques on??) but it''s huge, just too big!! LOL Gonna keep this in mind for when I get my amish table though!!! maybe the boring one I linked from crate & barrel would be okay if it was under another... ?

The first thing that occurred to me was a restaurant supply store. Do you have one near you? Seems like they would have lots of white cloths.

hmmm.... I have no idea! But that''s a great idea! thanks!

Try Sams Club. They have white linens for restaurants, too.
