So DH and I were tested yesterday. We''ve both been feeling poorly over the last few days and I have several confirmed cases in my building.

Due to the backlog in the labs we were told we wouldn''t know until 24-48 hours so until then we''re on ''house arrest'' and can''t leave or see anyone until we either get the all clear or get tamiflu.

Nightmare. So far, the NHS aren''t coping very well and its spreading like wildfire in our country.

How''s it being managed where you are?

Yikes Po! Sending you non flu dust

I wonder if it''s spreading around where I am. Suddenly A LOT of people I know are becoming sick and literally every day a new person is coming down with it! Odd time of year to become sick.

Hope you feel better soon, Po!

Outside of the media hype and ridiculousness, it is really not a big deal here in the States.

People are getting a mild flu. Folks get the flu everyday.

Hope you and hubby are feeling better soon, Po!

OH NO! I hope you get to feeling better very soon. The media isn''t talking much of the swine flu these days where I''m at. Guess they''ve moved onto more ''exciting'' news. Whatever that is.

It still out there, they should be letting us know about it.

Thanks for your well wishes folks.

I''m just gobsmacked that its not being controlled in the UK very well. We have had the first death outwith the Americas and they''re now finding non-related cases of the virus emerging.

It was almost like a scene from Outbreak yesterday when we were greeted with a guy all suited n masked up, was kinda funny in a way cos these things don''t tend to happen where we live.

Listen to Bob Seager''s new song... Swine Flu! (that was my poor attempt at humor)

I''m sorry and I hope you recover quickly!!!!

I''ll check it out, am always up for a laugh.

Ocht we''ll be fine, I just need to know whether we''ve got it or not and not being able to leave the house or see anyone, I''m climbing the walls.........and running out of ''nice'' food.

I hope you guys are okay, keep us posted. hugs

I understand, eggs, and peanut butter only go so far!

(oh and don''t really look for that song, I was joking, because I''d go around singing Night Moves, only replacing those words w/ Swine Flu... I''m sorry! That is soo wrong to do to a sick and confined lady!!)

I hope you and DH feel better!!

Oh no Po

Im from Melbourne (living in Canada), and its very very bad in Melbs. Which is to say its like any other nasty strain of flu. They''ve stopped testing for it, on the basis that if you have it its treated like most other flus. A few people have died, all of them have been unhealthy prior to getting it.

But apparently in any normal flu year 2500-3000 people die from it. So the authorities in melbs say it wouldnt be unreasonable to suppose that swine flu will be the same kinda thing.

My friend from home came to visit me on a whirlwind trip about two weeks ago. She was here in Canada for four days with me, then had four days in New York. And she got...SWINE FLU!!! Kinda funny she got it here when its so bad at home.

But dont worry Po, you''ll be ok, just as she is ok. Drink lots of orange juice i think!

I''m sorry you aren''t feeling well. Hopefully it''s just a run of the mill bug of sorts and nothing more serious. Here''s some dust for a speedy recovery.

For others who are concerned that they may have the flu (any flu) and you want to take medications like Tamiflu, you should know that Tamiflu is NOT appropriate post the first 24-36 hr window of onset of symptoms. Which means, if you''ve been sick for a few days, and now they are making you wait till you get the results? it is unfortunately an inappropriate use of resources.

There really doesn''t seem to be a happy medium in how they are handling all this.

I live in SE Michigan and just a few weeks ago a police officer in a city right next to mine died from H1N1... Kind of scary, but he did have some underlying medical conditions.
