Eh, just a vent. Despite the fact I can''t even doggy paddle ... somehow I''ve contracted Swimmer''s Ear. OUCHIES!!!! And, beyond the *pain* ... there''s a deep infuriating ITCH and constant wet sloshy feeling ... and my glands behind my jaw are swollen and I can''t sleep or hear or scratch or ..... AIGHHHHHH!!!!!

At first I thought it was ear wax build up and I tried to treat it myself with Murine ear drops but I guess I made it worse and after several days of minor but increasing discomfort I woke up in MAJOR pain this a.m. Went to the doctor & now have Cipro drops & major pain killer but I''m still miserable. Gotta give it time to kick in I guess. AIIIGHHHH!

Is murine a brand? Or why do you have eye drops for mice?

Oh, I HATE swimmer's ear. I had it, and went into the doctor who tugged on it to "look inside". Oh the pain. I almost blacked out. It was awful!! I hope you get better soon!

ETA: And I also got it without actually swimming. All the pain without the fun.

I feel your pain! I got a TERRIBLE case of it on vacation one year. Luckily we were staying with family so I was at least able to rest and chill out. One thing my doctor told me was to warm a bit of olive oil to put in the ear i guess to help with the pain. Did you doc mention anything like that to try? I hope you feel better soon!

It helps if you take sudafed also.

Deco, I hope you feel better soon. My hubby has to wear ear plugs for swimming, as he gets the very same thing.

deco it helps if you wear earplugs in the shower also. you can get the wax at any drugstore or have custom molds made to fit your canal.
