What are your favorite suitcases & accessories? I travel light, only a carry-on suitcase with 2 pair of slacks, 1 xtra pair of shoes, and enough tops and undies to last a week. Most of our vacations are a mix of tourism and hiking so we never take anything other than casual wear. I find it easier to do laundry on long trips rather than checking baggage and hauling multiple suitcases. My favorite carry-ons at the moment are Eagle Creek and Briggs & Riley. My must haves are 4 sturdy spinner wheels and a telescoping handle that doesn't wobble.

Last year a bought a few Cadence travel containers to replace those plastic tube ones for shampoo & conditioner because they're so hard to clean but generally I just buy travel size things that will fit into the required quart size travel bag.

In stark contrast, I am a heavy packer - always need to have at least one check in luggage and usually a carry on as well. I’m a huge Tumi fan - I have a set of luggage that has different sizes (cabin, medium and large), plus a tote (that matches my luggage) for all my in-flight essentials.

My top tip for travelling light is to invest in roll up vacuum seal bags. We’re away for 9 days ATM, with our trusty Samsonite wheeled carryons, and I’ve got all our clothes in them for the entire trip.

Also choose a bright colour to make yours stand out from the black/navy/grey cases. I have shocking pink and parrot green large spinners, and my carryon is lime yellow.

When flying, I can't have just a carry on and a personal item, as I struggle to put the carry on into the overhead locker on my own.

Also, I always carry a manicure kit in my washbag and that would be confiscated.

Although I already had a good medium size 2-wheel hard case (sufficient for 2-week holidays), I purchased a 4-wheel case in the same size last year and it was a game changer. It was so much easier to manoeuvre a 4-wheel case with the personal item placed on top via its sleeve.

I also purchased another small cabin size trolley case with 4 wheels for carrying just my laptop, a throw and neck cushion, so that I don't have to carry the laptop in a bag on my shoulder when I am walking around the airport.

Packing cubes are great for ease of packing and unpacking. If I were to start again, I would not choose black as many items I pack are black, which can make finding things a tad difficult.

I can just about pack a small trolley case for an overnight trip providing the laptop does not come with me.

No more trips now until September 2025 when I am up in the Big Smoke that is London for 2 jewellery related exhibitions, and with some food and drink in between.

DK :))

Wow, that is absolutely gorgeous.

I don’t have your panache. My husband who is a helicopter pilot and myself just go with the tried and true Travel Pro.
