My family is taking a mini vacation and spending a couple days in Toronto...any good suggestions on things to do, places to eat? Bling recommendations welcome but keep in mind I would be the only one interested, but a couple ideas in that arena wouldn't hurt ;))

my fav restaurant is it appears now closed: Provence Delices

i cannot recommend the Bata Shoe Museum enough! this really is a great historical presentation and a great place for kids. i loved Loved LOVED this place! [http://toronto.about.com/gi/o.htm?...ere. [url]http://www.springrolls.ca/menu.php

the ROM seems to have lots of interesting exhibits....which we seem to just miss by a day or so. also very kid friendly.

do not skip the Bata Shoe Museum. it may sound hokey but its perhaps the best touristy thing i've ever done in Toronto.

btw, we love Toronto. great city.

eta re bling: Birk's is a high end jewelry chain store...... for small boutique fine jewelry check in Yorkville.....

Thanks MZ!! Those sound really interesting. I knew there was a high-end jewelry place but couldn't remember which one it was. I'll look up the ROM to see if they have any cool exhibits in the next few weeks.

Love all the suggestions so far!! Thanks! We have been to Niagara Falls more times than I care to count haha. I like all the ideas for stuff in the city and restaurants. Keep em coming!! ::)

CN Tower
Centre Island
Tour of the Air Canada Centre
Family TTC pass on Sunday's and ride the bus around
Tour University of Toronto
Eaton's Centre (but it really is 'just a mall'..)
Tiffany/Holt Renfrew on Bloor (start at Yonge st and head west)
Yorkville
Any of the markets- Kensington, Farmers, China town
Hockey Hall of Fame on Front/Yonge st.
CASA LOMA!! I LOVE CASA LOMA!!! especially at Christmas time!!

The Zoo is out at Meadowvale but lots of walking - not sure if it would be as awesome in the winter as it is spring/summer/fall...

Thanks again everyone. We only have a few days there so these ideas are plenty to choose some activities from. :))

Ditto this! It's gorgeous at Christmas. (I've only ever BEEN at Christmas, so I can't say how it compares to other times, but still!)

Anyone been to the new Christmas market? I'm so sad I'm missing it!!!

Now this is a must see! We've made it a tradition to take in some mulled red wine and bonfire in front of the Boiler House.

Apparently, lots of excitement at the Toronto Ikea... :Up_to_something:

(i.e., stylish monkeys...)
