Strangers in your house?

It seems that many have/would take in a stranger who was vouched for.

I also know that many people don't loan money to friends/family. (not the same people necessarily) So, why do "we" put more trust in our friends when it comes to our well-being than our dollars?

Because I think the probability of a guest in my home, even if a stranger, harming me is extremely low, but the likelihood of a money transaction turning sour being pretty high. I have friends who I wouldn't loan money to (as I have no doubt it would make things weird, or I would never get repaid), but I trust that the same people have enough judgement that they wouldn't ask me to house an axe-murderer.

Doesn't the miniscule chance of a house guest gone awry outweigh a probably chance of losing a few dollars?

Is this showing the materialism of our society?

Yikes, that's nuts, ss! I have never and would never, ever let a stranger stay with me. Honestly I don't even like it when people I know really well and/or are related to stay with me. I can't even begin to imagine letting a stranger or acquaintance stay with me. I like having no guests ever!

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!!! I won't let neighbors in, either. I'm sure they think I'm psycho or something, but I just want to be alone...Greta Garbo had something going with that, you know!

I WILL let Gail, my awesome Mail Lady, come in since she brings me all of my packages and is really cool.

Oh, I've invited Freke to my house to help me go through my stuff....I'll have to load up on Xanax before she gets here.
