So a friend of mine is doing that HCG diet thing (not something for me I don't think) but mentioned that she uses these Stevia drops that have various flavors, chocolate, etc. It was the Sweetleaf brand. I got myself a little sampler pack at the natural foods store and so far they're kind of interesting. I take allergy meds every day for ragweed and every other living thing, so hopefully that side effect doesn't cause me any issues (stevia).

Anyone else like stevia? Or use these drop things? I've used them in water and even diet coke (I know, I fail!) and it changed the flavor enough to not be boring, hell I made my water taste kinda dreamcicle'ish.

I am a little nervous Ill use too much of this stuff and give myself the trots...

I use two or three packets everyday and haven't noticed any downside. I didn't know about the flavored stuff. I did try that Mio or Mia stuff and it tasted artificial to me.

i have a vanilla flavored liquid that i use when making smoothies.....with citrus as it makes them taste every so yummy and much like an orange julius.

I ended up ordering a few more flavors, but I like that it takes liek 4 drops in a bottle of water to really make it taste good.

I have never tried it in a smoothie tho...

I don't know about the drops you are talking about specifically, but I can tell you about stevia in general.

I've grown stevia in my garden, it's just an herb, like mint, parsley, etc. But the weird part is that it is SO SWEET. If you break off a leaf, and nibble on it, it tastes exactly like sugar. It doesn't taste green, or herby, but like sugar. It has NO aftertaste. We used the leaves in tea.

I was one of those people that subscribed to the theory that the nutrasweet/saccharin producers were keeping stevia under wraps for years because it is superior in taste, very safe, easy to farm/harvest, no aftertaste, etc. It's very popular in Europe, and has been for decades.

But lately they've started to sell Truvia and other Stevia sweeteners, so I feel better. Truvia comes in little packets, just like Sweet n Low.

If anyone uses artificial sweeteners, give stevia a try, it's fabulous.

Two of my coworkers love it, one specificially uses TruVia, another something like NuVia or something I've never heard of.

This is my first real venture. I had only tried it once and I hated it, it was SO bitter. This stuff seems a lot less gross. Though I haven't yet tried "plain". I don't typically use sweetner in my tea, unless it's just a burned or gross batch and I usually used Splenda. I am hoping that the drops will just give it a little kick. I usually make it like a lebanese place I like, with cinnamon in it. I got the cinnamon drops so I might try it.

That's the one I use! I bought this at the health food store:
http://www.sweetdrops.sweetleaf.com/travel-pack.html

and I just ordered a full size Vanilla Creme, Chocolate, Cinnamon, Valencia Orange, peppermint and rootbeer. I like the sounds of Apricot, so that might be a later buy. There was anothre brand called Yum Drops but their service gets pretty scathing reviews. I would like to pick up a Lime one, my friend said she found a Tequila flavored one and started mixing Lime with Tequila and makes margarita water. lol

oh, that could make a very fun and icy summer beverage. i'll look for that. i grow limes.....!

I think the tequila must have been the YumDrop brand. I assume she got that at the same health store?

i haven't seen the yum brand.....only sweet leaf.

i may have to try root beer, lemon drop, and the valencia orange.....great summer time icy possibilities.

Gah!! I wish I liked it the way you all do. To me it has an artificial aftertaste. I wish I didn't taste it. I've only tried it in lemonade, tea, and smoothies. I think I can probably take it in lemonade and smoothies, but tea - bleh :knockout:

I didn't know about the flavored kind! I've been using Truvia for awhile, and when I recently ran out, I noticed Walmart is now carrying Great Value brand stevia. I am soooo glad to no longer have to use those other chemical sweetners! I use no more than 1 pack a day and usually a half, but still, it is good to use as many natural things as possible. I'll have to look for the flavored drops. I also think I would like lime!

the only kind i like is the flavored. and the only one i have now is vanilla creme. it is easy to put too much in and have a too sweet taste. i'm not crazy about it in tea either.......but in icy or smoothy drinks, oh, yeah, baby, hit me with a few drops of that vanilla creme!

I've used Truvia packets before and they were super sweet and tasted the closest to sugar out of any alternative sweetener I've had.

The chocolate is great with strawberries! Really rich flavour. Mmmmm...

I got my order of all theb ottles I picked and holy damn they're BIG. I refilled my orange, chocolate and vanilla minis and dumped the lemon out and replaced it with mint.

I have been making my water york peppermint patty all day lol

i used to love those York Peppermint Patties.....when they were made with real sugar back in the 20th century....!
