Wish I would have been there!

Actually, Seattle is spelled with TWO tts.

We're pretty upset here. My dh wore the same Seahawks shirt for a few days straight in anticipation of the game and after the game and a lot of beers went straight to bed in a depressive mood.

Some of the early calls were a bit questionable! Seems the steelers shouldn't be entirely proud of their win.

Congrats Stillers, Stealers, whatever you refer to them as...I just say, "thank God football''s over for now!!!" Means I have my DH''s attention back for like a month until spring training for baseball!

Boooo!!!
this is one of those game the team that got out-played and still won.

From a Bears fan and a close second Colts fan.....here''s to the STillers!!!! Congrats!!!

BUT that goes both ways, there were a few calls all around that were questionable (fumble etc..)
Although I agree, the calls still went upstairs for most and thats what was decided.

(sorry for mis-spelling Seattle...I actually knew they had two t''s) my appolagies!

In the end, the calls didn''t decide the outcome of the game. Steeler still would have won. Technically, Seattle was better. Steelers seem to want it more & had the big plays to make it happen. Surpriseingly, the Seahawks didn''t.

What was your favorite commercial? Mine were the stunt double pepsi/coke can, The magic" revolving refridg, the lamb streaker - and the sentimental favorite - the baby clydesdale who had some help from dad.

All and all - a good game w/ good clean fun w/ no wardrobe malfunctions.

We are not football fans, but my in-laws live in Pittsburgh so you can imagine they are happy. They sent my husband and son official shirts and hats last week -- I thought that was funny. We watched the last half hour of the game (I mostly watched through my eyelids
20.gif
) just to see who won so we would not be totally out of the loop.

Like I said, we don''t normally watch, so I don''t know these players, but who the heck is the player with the long, frizzy hair that hangs way out of his helmet? Ewwwwwwwww.

I believe he is the Safety. Polomoulo (sp?) is his name. He is someone respected on the field and off the field aside from his unruly do.

Hee hee - ok, MC, I just gotta cause trouble.

How did you watch the game last night if there is no TV in the house anymore?
11.gif

I think he''s a strong safety? If he was an offensive player he wouldn''t have the hair, but as a defensive guy, he can pull that off.

I am a huge Seahawks fan, and this is what I have to say. The chips were stacked against Seattle. From the media coverage (what was w/ all the Steelers commercials in the first half??!!) to the officiating (pretty sure Matt Hasselbeck can tackle the guy if the guy has the ball ...).

On the other hand, I believe that Seattle didn''t play its best game either.

That score though will never reflect what really happened yesterday which is what is upsetting to me.

But what can we take away from this? Ha, most likely, your team didn''t make it to the Superbowl and ours did.

I am not a big NFL fan, but I do live in NW Pennsylvania, and it is definitely Steelers Country. I watched every minute of the game, and also every commercial!
2.gif
I can assure you, everyone where I live is quite HAPPY today -- and I think the Steelers earned their win.

If you are not a big NFL fan, Lynn, are you sure they earned it?? Seattle did beat the pants off of the Steelers in stats .... I think there may be a Pennsylvania bias lurking. (Haha, not that I don''t have one.)

Take a look at any sports news webpage and read about the officiating. I don''t blame the entire loss on it, but it definitely played a factor, so I don''t know if they "earned" their win.

In the end, the stats mean nothing except stats. A W is a W is a W. Steelers made the big plays when they needed to. I think the Steelers defense was precisely to let them make the small yardage & concentrate on stopping the big plays the Seahawks are notorious for. Hence, one reason for the good stats.

While extremely bad at moving the ball in the begining, the Steelers found their rhythum. Technically the TD call about offensive interference was spot on the money. In fact, on the radio, the announcer called it before he even saw the flag - and I''m not in Steeler country. Should they have called it? More of a question. But, they did, the play was reveiewed and the ruling stood. The other questionable call was the Roth. TD. From the replay of the TV video is was very hard to see. It did not look like from the one angle they kept playing that he was in. But, even if he wasn''t in there was an inch to go. It would be a bit of a leap of faith that they couldn''t get the Td or a FG.

So, yes - I do think they earned it. But, if we want to agree, I think all the officiating of this game & the playoffs was quite bad - an equal playing field. BUt, that''s kind of like Peyton Manning singling out the offensive line as to why he lost. A contributing factor - perhaps - but sounds like spinning the reality.

Besides, I''m a Steelers fan.
2.gif
And, in the end a good game.

fire and ice:

Nice editing: Interesting to note that you failed to mention the ''delay of game'' miss when the Steelers received a freebie when they called a timeout after the game clock had already reached zero.

And I''m sorry, Matt Hasselbeck getting called for clipping when he tackled the man with the ball ....

I don''t want to be a sore loser, and I''m not. I fully admit, we didn''t play our best game. But I don''t think anyone can deny that officiating played a significant role here.

And I''m not surprised you are a Steelers fan... most of the country was yesterday. We were trying to win an uphill battle.

No, probably a few too many beers.

Nobody is denying the poor officating - just that how it would effect the end result. And, the Steelers were the victim in the playoff - insert little dig -
2.gif
they STILL won.

We''ve been Steeler fans for years. The head coach is a former Wolfpacker. Hence, the diehard commitment. I pulled for the Seahawks - as one of their lineman is a former wolfpacker. But, faced with this matchup - it was an easy choice - old alliances are hard to sever
2.gif
. There always has been a Wolfpack/Seattle connection. Didn''t Nate McMillian still coach the Sonics or after playing for them for years? So, don''t alienate a fellow Seattle team fan

Gotta chime in here...I am a HUGE Steeler fan. Love 'em to death!!!! And I am sooo happy we won the SB.

Were there some questionable calls? Yes. Are there always questionable calls? Yep. And the two that really impacted the game - the offensive pass interference call and the holding call, were both legitimate. The guy pushed off and got seperation and Haggans was held so he couldn't get to Hasselbeck. And really, you can't blame this loss on the officials. Seattle's clock management was abysmal during the game. Hasselbeck missed a lot of recievers and threw a lot of balls out of bounds. Jerramy Stephans dropped a lot of balls. That wasn't the official's fault...you know?

Simply said, the Steelers played better than the Hawks...

That was NOT a touchdown

''nuff said

Not a Seahawks or Steelers fan,btw ( Go Eagles! Damn you, TO!)

Okay, well, my husband appearently has a major thing for football and cannot live w/out it. To put in perspective, we spent $500 on play-off tickets a few weeks back. . .So, that said, my husband freaked when the season started and went out and purchased a Plasma set!

Actually, it WAS a touchdown. Here''s the proof. The ball only needs to cross the tip of the white line...and it clearly does!

itwasatouchdown.jpg

Even if is wasn''t - they weren''t on their last down. Though no guarantees, You''d think they would at least get a field goal with that field position.

It was a game that won''t go down in history as worthy of a Superbowl. It wasn''t spectacular, quite disappointing really.
