What do you wear on a daily basis? I see all of these super adorable blouses and dresses but they seem over the top for my stay at home mom life. The thing is, I feel frumpy wearing denim Bermuda shorts and a t-shirt or tank-top everyday. Have any of you mastered feeling great in your clothes even though they are casual? If so, how do you do it? What do you wear and where do you shop?

If I'm WFH and not going out and not expecting visitors or a delivery, and depending on temperature and who is in the house, either pyjamas or my birthday suit works for me ;))

I'm retired. I have no nice clothes. I feel frumpy sometimes, mostly in the summer when I just can't bear to wear things that make me feel even hotter. I run hot year round. Winter is better because I have more options.

Look up Justine Leconte on youtube. She has great videos about fashion and capsule wardrobes. Really good info to make a starting point. I'm trying to incorporate her ideas as much as possible.

This is amazing!

You think I can get away with this at Costco? :lol-2:

Sometimes I feel the same @House Cat since I retired. I have all these nice clothes and nowhere to wear them. Since I am a tad bit of a clothes horse, there are way too many now and they are taking up space. I only feel bad that they are not being used as much, not that I am Slumpy the retired lady. Though I did take a part time job in July at my old employer but that will end in November and it's only 21 hours a week over 3 days. So I get to dress up just a bit.

Be comfortable! Dress up when you feel like it.

I'm not sure about Costco, but going from what I've seen posted online about Walmart, one might fit in nicely there... ;) lol

Added bonus: Less washing to do!! :P

I wear mostly capris and tops in the summer, and I wear long, comfortable athletic knit pants and long sleeved tops in the winter. I have some better looking casual outfits if I am going somewhere nicer than the grocery store and Walmart!

I work but my weekend/casual clothes come mostly from Loft. They sell cute summer dresses, shorts and tops. Instead of wearing denim shorts and plain tee, try walking shorts and easy blouse/shell. Same number of pieces but looks more put together. Loft clothes are usually machine washable so no trips to dry cleaners.

baby monster has a good idea about different shorts. I have taken to wearing skorts rather than shorts if I am going out. Still feels comfortable but looks nicer. Eddie Bauer is my go to, but Macy's INC brand has some pretty cute stuff.

I work at home. Yoga pants are essential part of my "uniform" (I have them in black and gray!) And tshirts. I bought a ton of them from target when they went on sale, and on those days of super heavy coding, I have to be comfy and these fit the bill.

But I also have a lot of Jones NY clothing that can go from in to out of the house easily (and I don't look like a total slob!!)

I do everything else most people who go to work do, except drive. I get up, walk the dog, make breakfast, take a shower, then walk the 100ft to my office which I lock when I'm done for the day.

If I have to travel (like I do today) I wear traditional business type clothing. I'll be in Miami for a meeting today (not loving it...)

I mostly work at home and am basically a sloppy dresser. I usually wear running shorts and a t shirt to drop my kids off at school and stay in those all day. I prioritize comfort above all else and have bad feet, so running shoes are basically my footwear of choice.

I'm at home unless it is a day I have class. This quarter, that may only be an hour twice a week. I have been home all summer. I wear what is comfortable each day. That might mean a tank top and sweat pants or it may mean jeans and a cute top or even a summer dress. If I am going to the store (or anywhere else), I use it as an excuse to pull out the cute stuff I don't want dogs tearing up.

DH was unemployed for two years. We set an alarm every morning and did the usual breakfast and stuff. Including him getting dreddre in the same stuff he had been wearing to work. (Chinos and polo shirt).I insisted on that part. He was getting depressed sitting at his home desk in sweat pants every day.

I also work from home...my "uniform" is my PJ's always lol...during the summer after work I change into shorts and t-shirt and in the winter it's sweats...the only time I vary is if I actually go somewhere..then its still shorts and t-shirts or in the winter it would be blue jeans and sweat shirt lol....I just dont really give a crap how I look

Stretch jeans and tees. Don’t care much about looking polished when nobody is looking. :lol-2:

One Hermes scarf will gussy you up

I work from home, and...ok, this is embarrassing...I spend a lot of time in pajamas. That said, when I do get dressed, I wear flowing comfortable dresses.

SAHM here, in the morning to bring my older son to school I'll throw on jeans and a t-shirt. The usual is either that or denim skirt and t-shirt. When I get home the bra comes off and I throw on a pair of super comfy men's lounge pants and a big oversized shirt. I don't buy clothes much but I like thrift stores and consignment shops.

Basically I just want to be comfortable and have all the bits and bobs covered with no potential for a peep show :P2

When I was a SAHM jeans, capris, shorts and standard v neck t shirts were my staple. To make things interesting, I bought light weight scarves and cute shoes (scarves are perfect for covering spit-ups if you have an infant). Baseball caps are great when you don’t have time to do your hair. I tried not to compare myself to how the other moms dressed, it’s toxic. The important thing is that you’re comfortable.

I stayed at home for 7 years, but even now that I work, my clothes have stayed the same. I live in Levi jeans with either (season dependant) a t-shirt, blazer, pumps / boots & nice scarf, or a nice blouse / fitted silky shirt with sparkly sandals. Jeans work for me & my lifestyle. I can dress them up (@PintoBean got it right about a good scarf) or down - t-shirt (long or short sleeved) maybe with a cosy jumper over the top in winter.

Retired. Shorts, Tshirt, summer. yoga pants, long sleeve shirts, winter. Pretty much the woodstock generation outfit in the summer, but jeans are out somewhat.

JJill (when on sale)and land’s end are my two go to stores

I'm not working right at the moment - and this. PJs.
The sheer breadth of my PJs and fuzzy socks collections was a somewhat startling discovery. Less surprising was subsequently learning just how many of them feature cats, dogs, pawprints, or all three.

I do like to wear my diamond studs - I put them on first thing in the morning, regardless of what the rest of me might be encased in.
... Writing all that out - well. I must make quite the spectacle :confused2:

I don’t work now (but not old enough to be a retiree :D) and my first outing of the day is dog walking, so jeans and tops.

If we’re going out for lunch, then I always wear a dress, I have lots of dresses. In the summer I wear linen. On holiday I’ll occasionally wear shorts, but I prefer dresses.

I have my cruise clothes, which comprise of lots of silk dresses for the evening and linen dresses for the day.

I always wear makeup, doesn’t matter if we’re just dog walking, it’s part of getting dressed, diamond studs, diamond pendant and diamond rings :D

I find wearing a casual dress or shorts with a nice top gives me a nice pick me up when I WFH.

I work from home, doing trading/ investing and my "uniform" is a spaghetti-strap t-shirt and ...ahem...usually panties or if not then shorts. When I go out, I usually wear t-shirts and shorts or yoga pants, unless I am attending an event or going out for dinner or lunch with friends in which case I'll wear a nice dress. It's been several years since I wore a business suit and I expect I'd find it super uncomfy now.

I almost always wear my studs, be it at home or outside. Of course, more bling is added on when I am out - what exactly and how much depending on the occasion.

SAHM here!

In spring/summer/autumn I am the picture perfect story book mother wearing pretty dresses in whatever print my little boy likes (flowers, cakes, donuts, fruit, dinosaurs, sushi etc you get the idea).

In winter I look like something that crawled under a rock and died for a few weeks. I loathe winter. It's depressing, foul and cold.

My tip for summer is dresses with pockets!!!! So functional! You can keep anything in them!

As a mother of 2 boys, I found this to be the sweetest. This is a new mom goal for me! Although it would be pretty hard to find Thomas the Train dresses for grown ups I'd imagine... :mrgreen2:

I just went back to work after maternity leave but work from home once a week or so. Today I'm wearing my PJ/house dress with my wedding set on my left hand & my new 5 stone ring on my right. Makes me feel fancy :lol-2:

Dear ALL OF YOU!!!,

Where are the opera length gloves, satin dresses, and the feather boas???!!!

I’m crushed.
