I CANNOT Believe its mid-October already!!!

So, all you March/April/May ''09 brides... how''s the planning coming along? I''m trying to gauge my planning... I feel so behind!

Booked/have:

Ceremony Venue - outdoor historical house
Reception Venue - link to venue sites: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/decided-on-venues-pics-inside.93527/
DJ
Photographer
Dress (Bought at a consignment shop... still need alterations)
Transportation - MOH''s g-pop has two beautiful classic cars and has graciously offered to drive us around
Videographer - not really a neccessity for me, but MOH''s brother has a degree in media/video, and actually works for the college he graduated from in the A/V dept, and he''s only charging a couple hundred bucks

Still Need:

Officiant (FI needs to get on the ball - he''s supposed to ask the reverend of a church in his mom''s neighborhood - he belonged to a youth group type thing there when he was younger)
Invites (DIY) I''m done the wording, though. Also need all other stationary - place cards, programs
Flowers - mom works at a florist, I used to work there too. They told me to book with them 3-4 months prior
Favors - have NO idea
Accessories/shoes/veil
MOH dress (there is only a MOH and Best Man, no bridesmaids)
I need to register ASAP
Wedding Bands

I''m up in the air about a few things. I think I want a string quartet for the ceremony, which will be outdoors. I need to decide/book quickly. Same thing with the honeymoon. Not sure whether we want to go all out on a honeymoon with the way the economy is, we may scale it down for the sake of saving extra money to buy a house after the wedding...

Working on the seating chart and playlist. We were told by the reception venue to go for cake tastings 3-4 months prior. The reception is a package deal, includes food, bar, and cake. We have $X credit at our choice of 3 bakeries... I am SO looking forward to tasting cakes at ALL 3 places!

Still need to decide the final menu. I''m also working on losing about 10 more pounds. I''ve lost 3 already!

Geez. I have lots to do. I''m sure I''m forgetting a boatload of things.

Can you believe how time is flying?? How are you all making out?

I really feel like I am caught up with so much! Since it''s a Vegas wedding I picked a package and everythings included so I just get to pick colors, music, etc. So happy winters almost here...because we all know what comes after winter...Spring!

Need to do:
tasting to pick the caterer
cake
favors (just need to order them)
Guy''s attire (we can wait a few months on this)
rings
veil
shoes
jewelry (I''m workin'' on it)
officant
honeymoon
register

I feel like I''ve completed more than that! I''m sure it will all catch up to me soon enough though!

I am getting married on May 22nd of next year.

Things that are done:

Picked a venue (soo beautiful)
Pick a photographer (he is awesome)
Picked a DJ
Picked my florist

Still need:
Pick a dress
Pick my bridesmaids dresses
Pick invitations
Select an officiant (metting with potential candidate in November)
Pick a bakery (think I know who I am using)
Figure out what the wedding favors are going to be
Figure out what we are doing for the honeymoon (FI wants to go on cruise but I get sea sick so am not too thrilled about idea. Trying to find happy medium. If it were up to me, we would be going to France but FI doesn''t want to go to another country were he won''t be able to speak English. I took French for 8 years and am not fluent in it but think we could totally get by. He has no sense of adventure.)

Five of these things I am planning on taking care of when my mom comes down in December. She is going to help me pick my dress. Once we get that figured out then we are hoping to know what my colors will be, pick out some decent invitations, know what colors to use for the cake and figure out what to do for favors. It sounds like a lot to do but I am confident that it will be done in time for the wedding. I have seven months before I get married (OH MY GOD, that is soo around the corner).

Sweetjettagirl04! You're my date twin!

My wedding planning...eh.
Dress: bought...will pay off rest tomorrow
Florist: Need to pay deposit
DJ: deposit is down already
Need to book the rental company for the chairs in Jan,
wedding is in backyard of FIL house...so need to get decor

I have bought things for the candy buffet (jars, scoops, ect)
I have bought the toasting flutes, and found the cake server set I want
I have plans to get my dress altered in Dec. along w/meeting with my florist, the wedding planner at the hotel (they are setting up everything, catering everything, etc), taste test the cake, and the dinner menu, I finally figured out the tux color scheme,
We order BM and FG dresses in Jan.
No clue on invites...I'm praying my FMIL will do them like she offered because I am NOT crafty...nor do I have the time!
Wedding is long distance...so I have 1 wk to plan everything in Dec....lets hope nothing is closed because of x-mas!

Oh, and I found someone to do hair AND makeup for 50.00 (we'll see how the trial goes before I book um....)

Am I forgetting anything?
Oh, and I bought my dress shoes for 17.00 on clearence! I had to call 15 stores and have them shipped! But hey! I got um!

I forgot we were date twins! Hooray!

Is anyone else in awe of how fast this is going? I mean, I can''t believe it''s almost seven months that we''ve been engaged! And to think, I was really trying to push to get married this fall! I''m so happy we waited so we can enjoy it, too! Aigh! I gotta start sticking to my diet - I keep thinking I have all this time, but in reality, I don''t!!!

I forgot we were date twins! Hooray!

Is anyone else in awe of how fast this is going? I mean, I can't believe it's almost seven months that we've been engaged! And to think, I was really trying to push to get married this fall! I'm so happy we waited so we can enjoy it, too! Aigh! I gotta start sticking to my diet - I keep thinking I have all this time, but in reality, I don't!!!
38.gif

You took the words right out of mouth. Honestly, it's like we're living in parallel worlds
3.gif
FI and I got engaged this April and we're getting married next April. Like you, we had originally planned on getting married this fall (November), but then quickly decided against it for a bunch of reasons. Initially, I was disappointed, but I'm soooooooooo happy we made that decision because it has given us time to get ourselves organized, enjoy being engaged and enjoy the planning phase. Seriously, what were we thinking
26.gif

Hey spring wedding girls,

Ok, well I am new to the BIW site, b/c I just got engaged this weekend
9.gif
! But, that still doesn''t stop me from feeling like I should be in the midst of a major panic attack right now. My fiance and I want to get married in April, May, or June in either Nashville of South Florida and we haven''t really done anything yet, ahhh
6.gif

That being said, here is what has been done (in two days no less):
- We have appts to see venues, but b/c they are out of state, its going to take place over the next three weeks. By the 1st week in Nov though, we should have a place secured.
- We are doing the reception and ceremony in the same place, so that''s done
- We are researching save-the-dates
- We have made guests lists for the two of us, just waiting on the respective moms to chime in
- I am trying on dresses over the next couple weeks, and hope to get one before the end of the month.
- We are trying to research photographers, dj''s, and flowers and interview some when we travel to the respective states

If I am missing something, please let me know, b/c I could use all the help I could get!

Thanks ladies!

So far so good! Our date is March 21st 2009.
We are getting married just the two of us in Belize at the Victoria House http://www.victoria-house.com/index.cfm
And spending the rest of the time honeymooning there as well as a little bit of time in Guatemala.

After that we are throwing a fun party at our place in San Diego for our friends and any family that can make it.

Later on my parents are throwing an east coast party for us (since she doesn''t do airplanes
20.gif
)

Got the dress http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2920446/0~2376776~2374327~2374331~6014155?mediumthumbnail=Y&origin=category&searchtype=&pbo=6014155&P=1

And my mom has the east coast reception location set - http://www.greenvalleyccofri.com/Club/Scripts/Home/home.asp
and the date on that is July 11 09.

all I''ve got to do now is figure out how to wear my hair
Get shoes
plan the west coast party and
help my mom figure out flower/linnen colors/favors etc.

whew! even keeping it "low key" is quite the whirlwind!!!!!

Prepare ceremony schedule
Do invites/STD/programs/menus

Hmmm...there''s still a lot left. Sigh.

I just wanted to chime in to get an opinion from all of you... I got engaged a few weeks ago. We''ve been discussing dates and are narrowing in on early May. Are we crazy? I''ve been semi-planning (details, etc.) for a while now, but we don''t have any venues chosen yet because we haven''t chosen the date. It should be chosen within a week or so, then we would start going and looking at possible venues I''ve got on my list. Anyway, are we crazy to start now and do everything you all already have done in just 6-7 months?

Hey luvthemstrawberries, congrats on your engagement! I think if you''re flexible when it comes to the big things (ceremony/reception location, dress, photographer, etc...) you can definitely do it in that time frame. You just gotta get on it now!

Wow, haha I just realized I''m a cut rock now!!
9.gif

Yeah I know, we''ve got to get going. I''ve just realized why so many people want more than just a few months to plan a wedding. Before he proposed, I was dead set on "Give me 3 months and I can get it all done" and I knew I could - I just wanted to be married! But as soon as he proposed and I got to actually think about it "for real," I''ve realized that I want to enjoy being engaged. I''m only going to be in this position this once, so I''d like to have enough time to enjoy it, soak it in, find a place we like, get some pictures done, etc. 3 months wouldn''t have been long enough for that, but a year is too long for me to wait. Well, just wanted to make sure I wasn''t crazy, since all of you already have so much stuff done for the same time!!

March 14 wedding

Wedding colors: black, pink, white

Already booked:

church (quaint church that my parents were married in, and I grew up going to)
reception venue (beautiful old mansion in Bucks County, PA)
caterer (Jeffery Miller catering co - I can''t wait for the food! Its going to be amazing)

veil
DJ
florist (almost - I just need to send him the deposit - my mom is meeting with him in Nov (I live 4 hrs away so she is helping a lot! but I taked with him on the phone and hs is fabulous!)
STDs mailed - I love them so much!! FI sister and BM is an artist/graphic designer and designed them for us! She made them specifically to our taste (I didnt like any at the papery) and FI printed them at home on crane & co cardstock. He even designed a cute emblem and return address on the back of the envelope and printed that too. They are perfect and I love them!
Invites chosen (simple crane and company - will be whiteish with black type, and engraved. black polka dot envelope liners too :) ) I just need to figure out the wording and order them.
Calligraphy lady
first dance with FI chosen (slow show by the national - love that song!)

I have my wedding party (MOH, BM, BM, GM, 3 flower girls)
Flower girls bought their dresses, I just need to buy some pink organza sashes for them
I picked out the BM dresses (Jcrew silk sophia dress in black)
don''t know about groom, GM - probably black suits with polka dot ties of some sort

Need:

room blocks for OOT guests
some sort of string quartet/piano player for cocktail hour/dinner
dancing lessons with FI!!!!
decide on the menu/cake
polka lessons (my dad and I are doing a polka for our first dance - he is going to teach me how to do it! :) )

Anyway I guess thats it for now!

I can''t believe its mid-Oct. Time is flying girls! Its almost our big-days!!!!

luvthemstrawberries: you can so pull it off! As long as you''re flexible with the major stuff, like CDN said!! Good luck, keep us updated!!

LauraBabe: Which mansion? Pen Ryn, Holly Hedge or Glenn Foerd? Or Aldie (I don''t think that''s in Bucks, though),,, either way, they''re ALL beautiful... I may not have even guessed right, though!
