No TV for the kids'' rooms. Right now, my sons are still young, but they''re not allowed TV without supervision. Right now, they can only watch TV if they ask first and are limited to cartoons & DVDs. When my husband and I watch movies, the kids must go play legos or even go to their rooms if noisy.

None were ever allowed in my kids rooms. That was one rule I was emphatic about.

And now, all 3 of them would rather "do" something, than watch TV. It''s one of the few areas of parenting where I truly feel I earned an A.

I think it''s a bad idea to have TVs in kids'' bedrooms, personally. I grew up in a house with very strict TV rules. My parents had a TV in their room and there was 1 TV in the living room. We didn''t have TVs, phones or computers in our bedrooms. I grew up in the country and we didn''t even get cable TV until I was in middle school, I think.

We weren''t allowed to watch TV at all during the week and it was very limited on the weekends, too. I think like 1 hour a day? My mom also made sure we didn''t watch stuff like MTV or Married With Children because she didn''t like the way women were portrayed.

My twin sister and I played outside for hours on end and read like 20 books a week each during the summer. Plus we both played rec soccer starting at age 5 and select soccer around age 8, and field hockey starting in middle school. Although I probably would have done most of that anyways, I still think I definitely benefitted from watching basically no TV.

None of my siblings watch much TV to this day. We all have a few shows we love and we watch those but that''s about it.
