OK gals, I''ve done searches but am not coming up with anything great. I need a suggestion for a place to hold a baby shower. A nice place that is really cute WITH good food. We''re thinking anywhere from 20-40 people and would prefer some privacy.

In the SB, I saw Restaurant Christine, but not sure if it''s as cute as I would like. If you have any suggestions, they''d be much appreciated. So far, I''ve checked in out in person Trump and Terranea, but I don''t think either of those places have the right vibe.

TIA!

What about the Mission Inn out in Riverside...that place is so beautiful!!! Not sure if the location would work for ya...

It looks cute, but definitely way too far. We need to keep it in the South Bay, but would consider most of the coastal westside if it is a cute enough place.

Cost is not a factor at this point.

Cute, AND good food? That's tougher than it sounds. I first thought of Salt Creek Grille, at the new mall in El Segundo, but that's not terribly atmospheric. There's Whale and Ale in San Pedro, but it's "cuteness" is strictly of the faux British Pub variety. They do have a nice loft function area, though. And Andrew, the owner, is great. There's La Palapa, on the beach in Long Beach, which has a cute tropical theme and good fusion food, but I don't know if that's too far out of your way. Marmalade Cafe, at The Avenue in RHE is tasty, and has a nice patio, but again, it's in a mall. Any number of places in HB and RB, but I imagine you've already ruled them out if you're asking for suggestions here...what about the Chart House?

I'll keep thinking.

ETA: Chef Hannes in downtown El Segundo is very good. Cozy and cute, too.

How about Second City Bistro in El Segundo. DH and I had a lovely meal here one eve. The inside is brick with an open kitchen. Didn''t think they had a private area, but they do according to the website- it''s a back patio: http://www.secondcitybistro.com/main.htm

I''ll do some more thinking...

Piggybacking on the Lucques recommendation: call AOC, I think there's an upstairs dining room; as well, the atrium of Tavern is GORGEOUS. Tavern would be closer, in Brentwood.

In Venice, there's 26 Beach which is cute. I don't think the patio at Joe's would fit 30-40?

In Manhattan Beach, there's Tin Roof Bistro. They recently opened, and I've never been, but might be worth checking out, as well.

You girls rock! I''ll be checking out your suggestions...

Ones that we were thinking of were 26 beach (which I see gets a mention), Cafe del Rey in MDR, and the Conservatory Grill at the Montage, Beverly Hills.

Selkie, I haven''t been to Chef Hannes, so I will check that out this week. You''re right, cute and good food is kind of hard, especially in the South Bay, which why we are a bit open to restaurants in the westside, but nothing as far as hollywood, etc.

Charger, I have been to second city, which I thought was pretty good. I had no idea they had a private room.

Julie, haven''t heard of Tin Roof Bistro...off to check that out!

My bridal shower was held at Jin Patisserie in Venice (http://www.jinpatisserie.com/). We took up most of the front patio; it felt intimate and was definitely cute. We did a tea service so we ate lightly, but the food was wonderful!

All my friends have heard of the place and I think some have gone there. I''m not sure why it is not on the list. Thanks for reminding me!

Thought of another South Bay spot- Zazou. I recall that a friend went there for a Sorority reunion sometime last year and raved about the food/venue. I think they have a deck that overlooks PV/Riviera area.

My pleasure! I haven''t been there in over two years, so perhaps it is not as good as it was, but I can''t recommend it highly enough based on my experience (and I know my bridesmaids appreciated the excellent service both while planning and the day of).
