Songs You Can Live WITHOUT

Hi,

Since Ame brought it up, I'll be brave. I hate when they play Amazing Grace. It feels so manipulative to me. It was a song I used to like, now I cringe when I hear it.

ANYTHING Country or Religious. Period. At All. Ever.

Add to that list: ANYTHING by Nickelback (ew!) and Adele. I heard Set Fire to the Rain 22 times in less than 24 hours on the SAME STATION. That's not acceptable. I used to not mind her, never liked her mostly just indifferent. But I swear her voice at this point is nails on a chalkboard for me.

Y98? It's making me bonkers

That Dire Straits song makes me violent too, ilander. Grateful Dead's Shades of Gray or whatever, I hate it. And that one song..American Pie, is that the name? Bye bye miss American pie drove my chevy to the levy but the levy was dry. I hate it beyond measure.

Dr. hates country (I do too so that works for me) and she won't allow it to be played at the office. We've got satellite radio so it's generally on the 50's, 60's or 70's stations.

Ah...I really like "American Pie". But that's a function of my age I suspect. It was the second song I remember memorizing from the radio, right behind "Spinning Wheel" by Blood Sweat and Tears. ;))
your that old?...

Anything by emo bands or boy bands (i.e. Fallout Boy and their ilk, Bieber or bands with multiple Biebers like backstreet boys)

99.99% of country music, which makes living in Texas all the more difficult. The only country song I have ever enjoyed hearing is when that Gwen girl on The Voice sang one: http://www.hulu.com/watch/326809/the-voice-gwen-sebastians-stay

Also, that song about Columbine is incredibly tacky, it's called Pumped Up Kicks. Seriously?

The stupid song Bruno Mars did for the Twilight Saga! I also shudder when I hear Moves Like Jaggar or anything with Jennifer Lopez!

Yes, alas, I am.

Bruno Mars - Just the Way You Are. That song is irritating, shallow and just dumb. :knockout:

Adele. The two songs she has out now won't stop jamming the radio waves :nono: I thought they were good until I heard them 50,000 times.

Haha, THANK YOU!! I was starting to think I was the only person in the universe who absolutely cannot stand Adele's music. Holy crap, anytime I hear one of her songs I have to claw my way to the radio so I can change the station.

Same way with anything John Mayer. *barf*

I am deeply offended by the lyrics of Nickelback's Rock Star song;

Everybody's got a drug dealer on speed dial
Hey hey I wanna be a rockstar
I'm gonna sing those songs
that offend the censors
Gonna pop my pills

Seriously? We spend so much time and effort explaining the dangers of drugs and then this dirtbag comes along and tries to make drugs sound cool.

Well, thanks a whole lot!

What is a emo band? Should I hate it?

cheers--Sharon

I HATE Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis and Grenade by Bruno Mars. Awful, horrible lyrics.
I actually like country music because I like the stories they tell, but I hate songs that are super twangy, if that makes sense.

I'm with ya Zoe! I like country (please don't hate me...!) but not the old stuff. The new country that is more like rock.

Anything by Ke$ha or Rhianna (OMG, the Umbrella song is the worst song EVER!) UGH! With Ke$ha, I loathe the songs but can't seem to turn them off, then wind up humming them all day despising myself.

YES. OMG. I never listen to "regular" radio, since I have XM, but I nearly lost my mind last weekend when I was driving around in my sister's car with that station on.

"Oh What a Night."

My entire mood darkens when I hear it. It's now a joke with my DH. Every time it is played at a wedding/function he's says "They're playing your song! Go dance!"

'Fireflies' by Owl City makes me want to stick something sharp through my eye, I cannot stand it.

LL Cool J - Dear Yvette

Hate it!!!

Celine Dion. " my heart will go on" from the Titanic. Omg. I'd like to push that song off the bow of that ship!!!

I second that.

OMG. Totally.

Add her "Power of Love" to that too. Now that I think about it. Everything by her. I guess I just don't like her voice.

Oh Nooooooo! My wedding song!!! I have such fond memories of rehearsing a routine for our first dance. To this day, whatever we are doing, we stop and slow dance to it.

K .. I just saw a Mini-Pops commercial where one of the clips was kids covering the lazy song by Bruno Mars....
I'm wondering what they had the kids sing when the got to the line "have some really nice xxx"????

Or is my mind dirty and I totally mangled that awful song and wrongfully accused it of being crass....

It's still a song I'd be ok with never hearing again though...

OH NO!!!!! I LOVE that song. Actually, I love to play her cds while I'm driving and sing along..but only when I'm alone....

Just the Way You Are by Billy Joel--sets my teeth on edge. Just because.
Over the Rainbow--actually, I hated the whole movie--but that's another thread
ANY RAP "SONG"--because it's not music
Anything by Tony Orlando and Dawn. no further explanation needed
