If I hear that stupid "money for nothing and your chicks for free" song by Dire Straits one more time, I'm going to hurl.

Same for pretty much anything by the Beatles. Sorry, I know there are a LOT of fans, but for me they were getting tedious when I was 12. But now? UGH! Don't make me listen again! :|

Are there any songs you would be happy never to hear again?

Sympathy For The Devil, and Magic Bus. And WIldfire by Michael Murphy.

Luckily they don't get much play anywhere anymore. But every once in a while...and I'm right back there, hating them.

What is the name of that god-awful song that says "I smell sex and candy"? That is soooo gross. Always hated it.

hehee, you guys are naming some of my *favorite* songs! How can you hate a song with that rhymes "platform double suede" with "disco lemonade?" That's genius!

"Celebrate" by Kool and the Gang and "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge need to be banned from the universe.

any songs after 1982... :knockout:

Finally songs I can get behind in hating!! :appl: I hate these songs too Maria!

I have a general hatred of all songs with overly simplistic, hackneyed, cliched and/or maudlin lyrics. ...so a lot of pop and country songs. :cheeky: This one may be the actual worst song of all time:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmEgXSJTm2o

ETA it's "If I Die Before You Wake" by Dustin Evans.

I agree Thing. That is one awful song! Whenever it comes on Sirius-XM I cannot change the channel fast enough!

anything and all things BeeGee.

Hehe I grew up on the Bee Gees - my dad and I would yowl our hearts out every Sunday morning to their Greatest Hits tapes ::)

Songs I can live without... anything without a discernible melody and anything without a discernible beat. And Adele's Someone Like You.

Celine Dion. " my heart will go on" from the Titanic. Omg. I'd like to push that song off the bow of that ship!!!

I second that.

Oh yeah. Last Kiss by Pearl Jam only because of DH

DH: I like this song. It's cools because it sounds like he's singing underwater. We should make this our wedding song
Me: you know that he's singing about his dead girlfriend, right?
DH: it's nice that it's a love song
Me: he killed her with his crappy driving
DH: oh, so you don't think this will be good?
me: :nono:

And the ending song from the movie Mermaids. (the one with Cher and Winona Ryder?) "if you want to be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife" like, WTH??? DH said he likes that song, and I was like "you think I'm ugly??.?"

I have to turn the radio off when I hear anything by Usher - I find his croony, whiny voice so annoying, most Beatles songs and anything by or in the style of the great wailers like Celine Dion or Mariah Carey also make me wish I had tinnitus.

Edited because I cannot believe I didn't put Umberella by Rhianna on my list - is it me or does she sound like is holding her nose while she is singing?

Boys.

I'm actually quite embarrassed by how many of my favourites are listed in this thread... So I'll just sit here with my iPod. Quietly. ;)

My first thought was anything by the Bee Gees. Also, this one (Summer Breeze): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDpwaj213tI

Basically, anything you'd hear at the doctor's or dentist's office. As for current songs, I'll have to think about it more.

OMG, this thread is making me LOL!!!

Oh, and I work in a Dr's office, so I AM SO SICK of all the songs that are popular right now. Adele, Katy Perry, etc...I could live without all of them!! If I hear them come on when I'm not at work, I very quickly change the radio station because I really just CANT STAND IT. My worst hated now though is Adele's "Set fire to the Rain". I feel like I'm going to vomit every time it comes on!

That Dire Straits song makes me violent too, ilander. Grateful Dead's Shades of Gray or whatever, I hate it. And that one song..American Pie, is that the name? Bye bye miss American pie drove my chevy to the levy but the levy was dry. I hate it beyond measure.

Dr. hates country (I do too so that works for me) and she won't allow it to be played at the office. We've got satellite radio so it's generally on the 50's, 60's or 70's stations.

Ditto.

You Light Up My Life.

ETA most anything by Kelly Clarkson. I think she started a new genre - "strong" whiny songs.

Oh MZ! You hurt me with this comment! The Bee Gees are my guilty pleasure, actually. Their three disc album was one of my favorite Christmas gifts.

Kate Winslet recently talked about much even she hated this song!

I read that this weekend!!! You go, Kate!!! We are ALL behind you on that! ARGH, I want to slit a vein when I hear it.... way too overplayed.

Isn't it unbelievably bad?! I'm sure people listen to it and tear up, too! Patriotism! Soldier! America! Dead boyfriend! It's like there's a "Crappy Country Song" checklist and he ticked all the boxes! :cheeky:

Ah...I really like "American Pie". But that's a function of my age I suspect. It was the second song I remember memorizing from the radio, right behind "Spinning Wheel" by Blood Sweat and Tears. ;))

Adele. The two songs she has out now won't stop jamming the radio waves :nono: I thought they were good until I heard them 50,000 times.

ditto. Once they grab a popular song and play the H#LL out of it, it totally ruins it for life.

Britney spears - Hit me Baby one more time and Queen - Another One Bites the Dust - 2 that got played to death.

ANYTHING Country or Religious. Period. At All. Ever.

Add to that list: ANYTHING by Nickelback (ew!) and Adele. I heard Set Fire to the Rain 22 times in less than 24 hours on the SAME STATION. That's not acceptable. I used to not mind her, never liked her mostly just indifferent. But I swear her voice at this point is nails on a chalkboard for me.
