I was perusing my local paper this evening and and apparently the Houston Museum of Natural History is expanding the Cullen Hall of Gems and Minerals to house the Lester and Sue Smith Gem Vault.

The permanent exhibit will showcase stunning examples of cut and uncut gemstones, including a 1,869 c. natural emerald crystal

, a 144 c. striking green Tsavorite garnet

, and a 2,765 c. Opal

. The exhibit will include information on all aspects of obtaining these gems, from mining to cutting.

The exhibit opens Nov. 17.

I can''t wait!!
