in a locked garage...someone sliced through the roof of my convertible and took my radio. I know that I should always hide the radio, but still...some people...

just so frustrating...why do people do things like this?

Wow thats awful....my son got his car broke into and they took a very cheap radio...I dont know why, I guess for the money they can hock it and get cash....it just makes you angry..sorry it happened to you and in a locked garage...just wow.

Someone broke into our truck this past April. They didn't steal anything but the entire interior was a mess, our stuff was scattered everywhere. It was so creepy to think that some thugs were touching my daughter's clothing and toys!

I feel for ya; but don't know what to say. Some people in this world operate on a different set of standards and beliefs on how to get things or earn a living. I've had to deal with a few of them myself over the years. Biggest lesson i learned was to give myself a day or a few days to be upset about it - and then move on. It's a problem that money can solve; and even if money is hard to come by at the moment; its a lot better than if it was a problem money could not solve (like you were seriously injured and/or crippled).

I'm sorry to to hear that. I also had my car broken in to a few years back. Some people have no respect for other people's property because they have never had to work for anything in their life. They just take it.

Aww I feel for you I really do A few years ago someone smashed my windscreen and broke into my car - for NOTHING! There was absolutely nothing of value in there and the car was an old bomb so i have no idea why they bothered? It was even parked less than 100m from the cop shop. Ugh....

No, I know there's nothing I can do...it's just frustrating that people do these types of things. It seems like lots of people have similar experiences, which is really sad

Yeah, I've had my car broken into twice. Once they stole a GPS (we had put it in the glove compartment but I guess they spotted the sticky pad we put it on when we use it). The second time they didn't even steal anything.

Honestly, I was more annoyed with having to repair the broken windows, those are expensive!

I live in a big city though, and these things are pretty common. I can't wait to move to the burbs with a garage! It still happens there, but hopefully it happens less.

I had my stereo stolen once, too. They actually didn't steal it, they just tried to and ruined it.

I sound like a total hippie and I'm actually not, but I just figure they must have needed it more than I did. At the end of the day it's just stuff and no one was hurt. Plus in my case my insurance company took care of it all (there were a few issues with my car because they also tried to break into my trunk) and I ended up with extra $!

update: my car is likely totaled. I can't believe that someone would cause that much damage to my car just to get an 8-year old radio. I have to wait for the insurance company's decision, but based on the quote from the body shop it is likely totaled.

well they can but replacing the top and the dash and the lining and the labor is going to cost more than what the car is worth. I'll have to wait and see what the insurance company says...

slg, I'm so sorry. I can't even comprehend what is going through people's minds when they do things like that... it's just so wrong. How the heck do they live with themselves?!

Sig, I am so sorry!!!! The lengths that people will go to to get something is amazing and disgusting.

I really hope that somehow this ends up to work out in your favor, that you are able to get a car that you absolutely love.
