I need a block button for Pre-loved... Or I need to skip the two glasses of wine before visiting the forum... I almost bought that DBTY necklace...it's such a great deal and on my jewelry bucket lust :Up_to_something: .... HELLO :wavey: Stupid...you haven't paid for the JbEG diamond yet...and you need a setting... Knucklehead...... :nono: Please some wonderful PS'r buy that thing quick.

No more late night "happy", " under-the-influence, lurking on Pre-loved is allowed... I'm on restriction! :errrr:

You are so cute! I can't slap you! But I hear you on visiting the pre-loved section. Its hard to walk away when you are planning something else!

I hear you MayK. I think lots of us need a slap or 2 regarding impulse jewelry buying. :cheeky: When I feel that way I stop for a minute and ask myself would I buy that exact necklace (or whatever piece of jewelry is for sale) right now if it wasn't listed on DB (or wherever a good sale is happening). And then I remind myself while it may be a great value I might prefer that money added to another project that I really have my heart set on right now. After all, the db member is getting rid of it for probably that same reason. To fund a more important (to her) project. So if the funds are more important to you for another project than the desire to have that piece of jewelry that is for sale I say stop, think and restrain yourself. Think of how beautiful your big jewelry project is going to be and the faster you'll get to it and enjoy if you don't impulse buy other jewelry. And good luck because I know it's not easy! ::)

"A deal's a deal only if you are getting exactly what you want"!!!

Hopefully you didn't also decide to fire off emails and phone calls to people as well!!  that's much worse than lurking on preloved :Up_to_something:

No slapping!!

Just a wee kiss and a hug. We are all the same. I made a full price offer for the beautiful vintage sapphire and cushion ring that was up for sale. I have the money but it wasn't what I had invisaged spending it on!!!

Unfortunately for me I am not in the USA, so a sale becomes more complicated. That, I completely understand. Plus the seller was, just lovely.

If her current sale falls through I would still JUMP on that thing, beer googles or not!!! ;))

So, just revel in that fact you have great taste (if not the budget) for the beautiful things that float out way!!!

:wavey:

I am with you Myak! I can't stay off of the site. It's a shame I don't have a money tree in my backyard. I want so many things but just not enough of what it takes to get them all

Here you go ladies - pick what you need!

Woo-hoo, we're rich!! Thanks Enerchi! :D

Yeah, I think I have to cut myself off from the pre-loved forum for a bit...no way should I be spending money on jewelry right now...that necklace was tempting though!

HI:

Window shopping is fun!

cheers--Sharon

Lol I have learned the hard way not to drink and eBay, or shop the pre-loved section. I can convince myself of anything at that point. :loopy:

No problem, going out to pick a few leaves myself... I'm not "drinking and eBaying/pre loving" (no, that can't be the right phrase!?!) but I'm sure drooling over at Daniel M's site! I've got BIG plans.... BIG.... and a very small wallet.... sigh

Thank heaven's its spring and the tree is blooming again!

Yes, the Pre-loved section is dangerous!!! I keep seeing SO many things that I would Love to have, but I have to tell myself I.must.keep.focused.

I told DH about the DBTY necklace so he would have a hint for my b-day and he's like "jewellery is your thing. If you have the money go for it. I know what I'm getting you, and it's not bling" :?

There is no alcohol involved for me, but deal hunger is why I currently own 6 OECs all around 5.6mm. haha. I fool myself into thinking I am looking for a pair of studs a little smaller than the ones I currently own, so they are more "daily wear" appropriate for me and will work with jackets. Many of the ones I bought recently were *supposed* to be smaller, but woe is me 8) , arrived bigger than I thought. So now I have a hoard. I just can't pass up a deal on ebay.

Too funny!! When I saw your thread title I just KNEW it was in relation to the DBTY necklace on the preloved forum and I've come in to say THANKYOU!! to you, because if you hadn't already messaged the seller about it, I absolutely would have made an impulse buy on something that I don't really need right now (but I really want it!! :cheeky: ) so thanks for stopping me!! :D

(and now that I know you haven't bought it I'm going to have to put a self imposed ban on visiting DB or PL for a bit!!)

HOT.. I saw your post and was like dang. I hope she contacts her if she wants it..since I came to my senses at 2:30?a.m. When DH woke me up with his impression of Captsin Snore :errrr: Me with a red wine headache thinking.... You've lost our mind...snap out of it!

The good news is it was sold sometime today to someone that isn't me..... Whew.... I would have been kicking myself.

Now to stay off of JbEG..the sneak peek has a DBTY that rivals anything else I've seen. Good thing I have a lay-a-way balance. Grace is only taking my checks for that one! =)

P.s. dang is southern for poop....

Ladies, ladies, ladies....

Make a LIST! A real and true wish list of what your heart truly desires. 5 or so things on the list, then buy accordingly. Want a 5 stone ring? Cool, then buy the right things when they come up. And keep in mind ladies that for many of the old stones, they aren't "standard" sizes, which means that setting them can be pretty cost prohibitive. There are reasonable stock settings out there, but if you have tons of stones sitting there, it can add up. Vintage settings? Great, but they may need to be reworked, so how much is that going to cost? Factor that stuff in!

Currently on my list is:

3 stone ring (working on it)
Antique stacking bands (done!)
Leverback diamond earrings.

If it's outside of that, even though it's a gorgeous DBTY PLATINUM necklace that is reasonably priced, the answer to myself is "NO!" ::) ;( :rodent:

I really have to do this, T-Gal. My problem is that when I realize I don't have the money to buy jewelry, I just decide to stop buying. Then when I get some money available, I buy something on a whim instead of buying what should be my only priority. That is why I have so much "junk" (high karat gold junk) and will never have a three carat diamond solitaire! I have ongoing projects like a gold charm bracelet; that charm bracelet could be something on my list. But I shouldn't be doing things like what I did today...suddenly buying a ring I saw and fell in love with after I had decided I was not going to spend any more money!!! (I will, of course, be posting pictures of it, however. I looked up the designer and he may be someone completely pedestrian-which I would expect given the location of where I found the ring-but I absolutely love it!)

Sounds like we both dodged a very sparkly bullet then :cheeky:

Oh oh I saw the DBTY OEC one on the JBEG email and decided that I needed to get myself out of the house and away from my iPad!

Tgal- I do have a list and the DBTY is at the top of it! Only problem is I've yet to receive the diamond jackets that were also on the list not very long ago. I'm trying to be patient and reasonable and space these things out a bit, since I already got my 5 stone and pendant within a week of each other earlier in the year (its not working very well) :halo:

Oh T-Gal...I have a short list.... I just have no patience :nono:

Bucket Lust

1. Transistional Diamond...it's on lay-a-way
2. Setting for said diamond....
3. DBTY - at least .15 pointers...
4. Earring jackets

Like HOT I did a couple things close together... My 5 stone and Pendant... FOr some reason I think I need it all before I turn 50... not sure why all the sudden I am on ths mad mission... :errrr: that is only 7 months away....

Well, I actually saw something on my list (a piece of tsavorite jewelry in high carat gold) which was being sold with a couple other items, exactly my esthetic style, doable price. But I dithered and was getting permission from my hubby, and it sold. So I'm just not going to even try to look in that area, because I already let "the one" get away
