A spin-off from the "Weight and Ring Size" thread in RT ... when you gain weight, where does it go?

Since I hit my 20s, my weight has stayed within a reliable margin of 120 to 140, roughly speaking: every seven years or so, I go on a fitness kick and it sinks to the low end, and then spends another seven years rising slowly. My ring size, my shoe size, and my waist have never changed, but let's just say that the girls just keep getting more abundant. How about you?

My weight shows below the waist. My waistline however does not show my weight at all, which is not always a bad thing but its for sure not always good either from a clothing POV! Aside from monthly PMS weight gain/loss, I try to keep my weight steady, though stress can take its toll depending on how much I'm working (too much stress makes me lose weight).

My girls don't grow. I'm the same freaking size I was in highschool ;(

For some reason I thought the title said "where do you flatulate?" and I thought who the heck wants to answer that!? Which doesn't make sense since it's not even a word...

Ha! So, 3 ... 2... 1 ... to Kenny's "Where do you flagellate?" thread, is what you're saying?

Lets just say I go from hourglass to just plain ridiculous. :angryfire:

I have gone up 45 pounds and am currently losing that. My waist, feet and finger size never changes. The butt does not change much to my distress. I look great nekkid the reason I want to lose weight is that finding cloths has gone from very hard to practically impossible. Try finding a shirt and suit for an interview when you have 32H boobs, itty bitty waist and size 14 (uk) hips.

Lost 12 pounds and already down to a 32G, I am aiming for an F and size 10. A C or a D would be great but haven't seen those kind of letters since I was 11/12 years old.

With the period I look pregnant, tummy and boobs swell like crazy.

Someone needs to invent a gain weight in wanted area -machine. I would love a bigger booty, feel like fake advertising currently. All curves in the front and not a lot in the back

spare tire between my belly button and hips. The waist is fine, usually around 26 inches, but the lower waist, the 2 inch section below belly button goes between 28-30 inches depending on the time of month and how much i eat that day. My fingers get skinnier as the day progresses.

I'm very rectangular, not much of a waist unless I'm on the lower end of my 125-140lb fluctuation. All the weight goes straight to my waist, and nowhere else. I'll still have no hips, no butt, and lanky limbs.

Boobs. First place I gain. Followed by fingers and cheeks. I do mostly gain and lose all over, though, but I tend to keep a pretty defined hourglass shape even if it is, ahem, significantly more so than it used to be, hahaha.

Lately, I've been irritated that when I *lose* weight, it is NOT coming off my boobs like it used to. And I'd prefer them a little smaller at this point- I'm pushing top end of D cup, I actuallly a have been cheating with a higher band size and then wearing the bra on the last possible hook, because if you are bigger than a D, kiss cute bras goodbye. And a lot of my older clothes aren't fitting even if I lose weight, because again, I'm not losing weight off my boobs at all and so my proportions are wonky compared to what they were. Old pants & skirts? Great, they fit again. Tops? Not. A. Chance. :angryfire:

Even when I was very small- size 2 as an adult in my early '20s- I was a C cup, with hips to match. While I like having some curves I could stand lose a few at the moment... currently I'm a 16. Ish. Since I usually wear juniors.

It would unfair to say what size I used to be in my 20s and what I am now at age 54. I am about 10-15 pounds heavier at 54 than I was in my mid to late 20s, yet I was a size 11/12 then (I weighed about 125 pounds - 5'9"tall). Now I wear a size 6 to, a 8. (go figure!)

I still wear the same shoe size either an 8 or 8.5 since I was 20 and my ring size has never changed or at least by not much (4.75). My breasts did fill out more after I was pregnant and never went down to a C cup again (I am now a DD) but the same band size (34). Since I had a C-section I have a little pooch that I can't get rid of (just above the scar). Funny thing is after I reached menopause, I find that the weight I have put on is more in my hips and upper thighs and my waist still stayed slim. I always assumed the weight would go to my belly, but it hasn't.

I thought so too, until I went to a specialty shop and got properly fitted for a bra. I was wearing a 36D, but actually am a34DD and what a difference, plus the bras I bought ( one is a tee shirt bra) are very pretty. http://www.simoneperele.com/ - on this bra site I am a 34E!

For the past two years I've bounced around between 108-115 (115 feels REALLY uncomfortable to me when it is not muscle gain, i.e. when I have too much ice cream  . Small frame, with that weight is very apparent to me) I tend to show it the most in my stomach area and my face. I hate that.

I am 5'0", and I was about 90 lbs all through high school. My freshman year of college, I gained about 8 lbs, and since then (I'm in my 20s), I have gained a few more here and there, so I am now about 105 lbs. I know that it sounds small, but I must have a small frame or something, because I am kind of flabby. I mostly see it in my butt, followed by my tummy. My breasts have also grown a lot since high school, but I'm not sure if that was natural, or if my birth control pills have a lot to do with it. I used to be pretty flat-chested, but I don't have that problem at all anymore.

So far, my ring size has remained the same (4.5), and I'm praying that it always does. I've been kind of bummed about my flab lately, so I've been thinking that I need to start a real exercise routine. I don't know that eating less would help, because I really don't think that I can. I'm hypoglycemic, and if I skimp even just a little bit, I start feeling really sick and super hungry, and then I just eat like crazy because I literally feel like I haven't eaten in days.

I think I maintain a relatively constant weight between 49 and 51kg. Up until my mid-twenties I was stuck on 46kg. Then the mid-twenties hit and over a summer I gained 3 kilos.

My waistline is definitely bigger than it should be - there's definitely a muffin top there. Unfortunately, the girls have not grown one bit since my teens.

I fluctuate between 155 and 165 lbs. I'm 5'10", and anywhere from a size 6 to 10, depending on my weight and the store. I'm most often a size 8.

When I gain weight it goes first to my face, and then to my arms. When I was younger, the next stop was my thighs and butt, but just recently I noticed that it has started to go to my middle, instead. I am not liking this new change, but I have to say that I notice it more when I do gain weight, and that's keeping me from gaining too much, so maybe it's a blessing in disguise.

I'm usually heavier in the winter when I'm less active. Now that it's warmer out I've already started to lose a bit. I walk the dogs a couple miles a day year-round, but when the weather is nice DH and I are outside doing SOMETHING all the time. We work out together all year long, but for some reason our active summers are the best for keeping me trim. DH, at 41, just freaked out because his waist measured at a 32 the other week. He's been a 30 all these years, so maybe his age is catching up to him. The annoying part is that he's already back down to that 30, after only a couple weeks. My waist is steady at 28/29, which sounds big, but I'm not a small person! I'm happy with my body. I feel good, and I look healthy.

ETA: My ring size doesn't change much when I gain some weight, but I do get that pudgy finger look that we so often lament here on PS when I'm a bit larger than I should be. When I'm my normal weight my fingers don't look fat. I think hands are a good indicator for whether one is overweight. My pudgy fingers are the first sign that I need to lose a few!

I fluctuate between 100lbs and 120lbs and my ering finger size goes from 3.75 to 4.75. 120lbs is HUUGE for someone who's only 5'2" and has a very small frame/ bones. I think my ideal weight is abt 104-106lbs.

My face and my tummy are the first areas that lose or gain weight. My butt and thighs also change but not significantly. My boobs change abt 1 cup size (between B and C). I absolutely *hate* the way my stomach sticks out when I gain weight and given practically most my clothes are tight fitting, it's a real pain trying to fit into them when I gain weight. :nono: ;(

You should be more careful. I am also 5'2" and I weigh more than 120 lbs. So I am "HUUGE"?????

I don't think I'm HUUGE - rather I think your personal standard of HUUGE is off.

I don't think she meant that 120+ lbs is 'huge' for every person at 5'2". Like she said, she has a small frame and small bones - someone of the same height but with a naturally larger frame would easily be able to pull off more weight. I feel the exact same way that she does, because I am 5'0" and 105 lbs, which *sounds* small and is well within the healthy range, but since I am small-boned, it's just too much for me. I'm sure that women with average or large frames would easily be able to pull that off though, and probably a significant amount more.

I think we're twins, Arcadian. Nothing ever changes at the waist and above. My booblets are the same A-cups they've been since puberty. As I mentioned in the other thread, my ring size never changes either. It all goes to my rather voluptuous booty and thighs, which are the bane of my existence. If there was a way to transfer fat from there to, shall we say, higher places, I'd say "sign me up!"

I found it amusing and depressing at the same time that I was 3 different sizes when trying on wedding dresses...2-4 at the bust, 6-8 at the waist, and 12-14 at the hips. Obviously these dresses aren't sized for pear shapes...

ETA: Yep, your bone structure makes a huge difference in terms of how much weight is appropriate for your height. I personally have a medium to large frame. I'm half Polish, and we don't come in small. I'm 5'8" with a size 11 foot and hands that measure up to almost any man's. So a 10-lb weight loss or gain on my frame fortunately doesn't show very much.

This is why I NEVER use number when describing my goal weight or current way. Someone is bound to be offended and I am excessively polite. I WISH I gained weight in my chest. Some of you ladies are lucky. Pre-baby any extra weight was well distributed. Post-baby it is spare tire city. ;(

I must be on the opposite end. I'm also 5'2 but unfortunately I must not have a small frame or small bones. Because I tend to fluctuate more between 120-150 in my adult life. When I get down to 120, I'm very thin and wear a size 2.

I tend to gain/lose most significantly in my face and middle. My boobs have fluctuated a lot - I was a B cup when I was 18, slowly noticed they were getting bigger until I went on the pill and they shot up to a DD or so. They did settle down after a few months and I've been a D cup for years now.

I'm sorry if I offended you. It was not my intent to offend anyone. I did however say it was for *me*. I do have very small bones and a very small frame. My wrists are smaller than some children's wrists. When I was at 120lbs, it was def too much for me, my face was round like the moon and I was flabby everywhere. I also had health problems which is actually the main reason why I wanted to lose weight.

I'm a very petite person with a small frame, so even a 5 lb. gain shows :knockout: When I first moved back home last Aug., I went from my usual weight of 105-ish (I'm 5'1") to 110 and it shows - mostly on the upper arms, thighs and calves. Blah. In Oct. I joined a gym and really got into it - I work out 4-5 days a week (yoga, zumba), ski on the weekends - and I went down to 95-96, and now I'm up to 97-98 (more muscle).

So... yes, I'm small, but remember, on a small person, even a few pounds shows!

Phoenix, I know you're Asian as well, and I know what you mean about wanting your ideal weight in the low 100s (since I'm betting we're about the same frame).

That said, I also know people who are around my height and around 120 and they are not huge at all - in fact, they're gorgeous and curvy (and I envy those curves!).

I tend to gain weight in my face first, then my posterior and thighs. Ugh! I'm actually lighter now than I was in my 20s. When I got married, I weighed 125 (I'm 5'4) and now I weigh between 119-122. That's pretty thin for me (I'd say I'm small/medium boned). I'm fine as long as I don't go above 127-128. That's when my clothes aren't comfortable anymore and since I hate clothes shopping, I'd much rather lose a few pounds than have to shop for new clothes! :cheeky:

In the past 2 years I've stayed consistantly between 158 and 165, with 25.8% - 29% body fat. It drives me bonkers! I want to be around 150 with 24-25% body fat, but I just. can't. get there. Ugggggggh. But apparently this is where my body is happy, and I can maintain it without feeling like I'm suffering or losing out on anything, so I'm just working at being happy where I am. I'm a size 8 and curvy, and I'm trying to convince myself that this figure is *just fine*. (So far it's not working. Bah. This is the curse of having a) been super thin until college without much effort and b) having grown up in Asia.)

I am 5'3" and I've been between 108-113 lbs, with the exception of my two pregnancies, since sophomore year of HS. I think I gain in my lower waist, butt and thighs. My stomach muscle isn't as strong now, so weights will probably show up there when I gain weights. Even though my weight hasn't changed. The distribution is different than it was pre-pregnancy.

Well I will not state what I weigh, but when I gain I gain very evenly over my entire body. I suppose that makes me lucky :rodent:

My weight was pretty constant within a 5lb range most of my adult life except when I have been pregnant. I gain a tonne when pregnant, so I have had the "good fortune" of losing over 70lbs in 18 months-- baby weight plus some extra that just needed to go. Of course, I got pregnant as soon as I hit the bottom of that range and now am on the way up again.

I am looking forward to the end of my child bearing years so I can lose and maintain.

One of my favorite things about being tall (5'8) is that I can gain a little weight without it being obvious! When I gain or lose, it's very evenly distributed. But, I was a very chubby child and peaked at 230 lbs in high school, then some combination of growing out of it/exercise/dietary change got me down to 125 at graduation. In my adult life, I've consistently been between 140 and 160. No one ever notices or comments at any of those weights.

I'm 5'5" and, for my adult life, I've been as low as 110 and as high as 145 (minus tipping the scales while pregnant). On average though, I weigh between 125 and 130. When I gain weight it's very obvious in my face and my hips. My waist gets thicker too - not so much a gut but a wider waist. For me, 10 lbs one way or the other can mean 3 pant sizes.

Looking at pictures, I can REALLY tell the difference between 125/130 and the 145. DH never notices one way or the other. If anyone else does, they don't dare say a word!

I dont really fluctuate too much, but when Im on a sweets binge (hello October - January ;)) ) I tend to get the extra gain in my thigh area/butt. Im very lucky in the fact that I have a metabolism like a jack rabbit, and good genes. So whenever I DO put on a few pesky pounds, it only takes a couple days of good behavior to get back to normal. Im not comfortable listing my height/weight though, sorry.
