Two weeks from today DH and I are going to California. We''re staying in LA and trying to plan things to do around there. I''m so excited!

I haven''t been on a vacation in SO LONG and we never went on a honeymoon after the wedding 3 months ago. I''m in school and he wasn''t able to take off from work at the time, so we decided to take a "mini-moon" for 5 days over Memorial Day weekend (in between my spring and summer classes) and then hopefully a honeymoon in August. This semester has been so stressful because of wedding planning, moving into a new apartment together, and my classes were so hard and now finals are coming up, so I''m SO EXCITED to get away for a couple days and just relax and have some fun!!

Only problem... I''ve been so busy with school (and DH with work) we haven''t been able to plan anything to do in California other than booking tickets and a car rental! Anyone have any suggestions of fun things to do?? I haven''t been to LA in years and DH has never been there so I don''t even know where to begin... any and all suggestions are appreciated! Thanks!!

Where are you staying?

I suggest:

- Disneyland if you''ve never been
- Getty if you like museums
- Manhattan/Hermosa Beaches...Hermosa has an area that is pedestrian only and you can sit outdoors and have a drink. Memorial weekend is a zoo because they have an outdoor fair that kicks off the summer.
- A look at Rodeo Drive. I recently had brunch at the Montage Hotel''s Parq restaurant and it was a nice experience.
- A trip down to Orange County''s beaches (laguna or maybe newport)
- Father''s Office for burgers and a beer in Santa Monica (expensive but worth it. Read up on Father''s Office...it can be a zoo there).
- A drive on highway 1 up through malibu.

I''m sure others will mention more.

Oh, I agree we with TGal, you have to drive on the highway, it is gorgeous!!!
I''m not familiar with LA, but if you''re willing to drive north a few hours north to Santa Barbara or even Solvang(small danish town with delicious food) it''s lovely up there. The parks are beautiful too. I''m sure you''ll love it no matter what you do!

L.A. County Museum as well as the Getty.

I love that place! Probably more for the nostalgia than the burger, at this point. They opened a 2nd Father's Office, though, I heard? Just as crowded as the first...

Lilac, I also think Griffith Park and the Griffith Observatory can be a nice leisurely day. Link

Maybe take in a show at the Hollywood Bowl.

What kind of food do you like? I've got tons of restaurant suggestions.

Citywalk and Universal Studios!! I know it is not that romantic, but I love it. I went for first time a two years ago to all the hotspots. And that was my favorite place so far. I went back in february with my hubby, he lived in LA for 10 years, so he took me to all the real good spots there, like Santa Monica beach, Venice Beach, Jewerly district

,Catalina Island. and a lot of places that I don''t remember, but I''m a turistic places girl. So I still love the best City walk
