And I half expected this report to be from here in Australia!! Reminds me of the old days running my pub where I was wrangling snakes out of the backyard on almost a daily basis, sometimes the job description doesn't always fit the duties performed!!!

My husband used to own a large aircraft hangar out in rural Australia. Brown snakes regularly made nests and had lots of baby brown snakes that then also liked to live in the hangar, in the planes everywhere, and the interesting thing was that the little brown snakes were just as deadly as the bigger brown snakes even if they sort of looked cute.....

Yep certain parts of Australia they are everywhere.....and the redbacks and the funnel webs (two types of poisonous spiders we have everywhere as well)....

Oh HE!!S no!!!

(We seem to be missing the Running As Fast As You Can In The Orher Direction emoti, but just pretend you see that right here!)

It's funny to me that when I lived on a golf course in Tucson, and nightly rattler runs were happening on the street in front of our house (when they'd water the course), it didn't bother me to see them in the least. But now, if I even see a harmless garden snake in my yard, I immediately go into 'fight or flight' mode. I can't even imagine how I'd feel 10k feet in the air, knowing there was a loose snake on the plane. :enterfaintingemojihere:

A snake like that on a plane probably would not bother me. Now tarantulas or other big effing spiders? No stinking way and I am out the air lock door.

I remember one morning, barely awake, and I had just let the dogs out back to do their biz. I start making coffee, and notice one dog hopping at the sliding screen door at what looked like a 5" mud splotch. As I walk over to the door, I see the "mud splotch" crawling - it was a tarantula.

We also had scorpions out there, and I found a gecko in my laundry basket once. So many critters ...

We have rattlers where we live but thankfully, I have never run across one. This will be my daughter's first summer in AZ. She lives in the hills of Rio Rico and I don't even want to visit. I am terrified of snakes!

Ugh we had rattlers where I lived in CA. They made a nest under our porch and my cats caught the babies and played with them before eating them. On a trail ride my horse stepped right over one and didn't even notice it.

Yeah, NO!!!
I remember doing a project in school (high school maybe?) where we had to pick where we would live if we moved and why. Other people picked pretty places or areas with sports activities or whatever. Me? I drew a map and made a key as I marked areas for snakes, spiders, big/ugly bugs, tornadoes, hurricanes, blizzards, and crocodiles. Those areas with multiple awful things were ruled out entirely. Places with a single issue were considered "possible" if further research suggested the occurrence was minimal.

"Some snake loose"? That's according to the quote. I'd be scared. Some snakes or a snake? I want them to get it right so I both know how fearful to be and how many they're looking for!
