I have 2 dogs and one of them is a siberian husky. He knows the normal sit and stay commands...but he has learned other tricks as well. I personally think he''s too smart for his own good. Why would I say that, you ask? He learned to open the fridge almost a year ago...At first I thought it was a fluke and I must have forgotten to close the door properly. He ate almost everything in the fridge...It happened about 3x in less than 1 week and I knew then that it wasn''t me....it was him
11.gif
. So, I velcroed the fridge
2.gif
and it''s something I do every time I leave the house
16.gif
. He tries every now and then, but he hasn''t gotten very lucky. I thought that now I have nothing left to worry about. Guess what else he learned this week. How to open the drawer at the bottom of the oven and...wait for it...wait for it...the oven itself
23.gif
. *Sigh* Last night I placed some left over food inside the oven with the intention of putting it away before I went to bed. Let''s just say the chicken never made it into the fridge. He did everything while I was taking a shower
38.gif
. Yup, that''s my puppy. Anyone else has a story to share? Bet you guys have some! Please share!!

LOL... that''s too funny.

You better show him how to cook, but I doubt he would leave you anything to eat.

My little sister''s dog learned how to open his cage. They very rarely put him in there, but once in a while when they need him to stay put they put him in there (like when there''s a scared child around or when they need him to stay in there so he doesn''t get hurt because they''re doing construction now). One day they noticed the dog kept being outside the cage and on TOP of the cage (it''s a very small dog and a very small cage). They kept thinking they were crazy like they didn''t lock it or something, but the more it happened the more they paid attention. That cute tiny little dog learned how to open the latch himself!! He also opens the cabinet under the sink where they keep the garbage so he can pull out the garbage can and rummage through it. Such a mischievous little doggie...

one of our cats is a little piggy... so she figured out how to open the cabinet and get into the cat''s dry food... now we put it in one of those plastic cereal container things and tie the little knobs together-- just in case.

Our Lab can operate the power window button in the car when she wants to stick her head out. We have to use the kids lock feature.

She also likes to carry the small cooler for us, even up and down stairs. She will also carry a rake or a shovel in her mouth if we balance it properly. And all mail is hers to deliver and she will actually put the mail out of our hands so that she can take it upstairs. Same with the newspapers, even Sunday when it can be heavy. The fact that she gets treats for all these deliveries has nothing to do with it, I''m sure!

I caught my cat Binks peeing (or trying to) in the toilet the other day.

He''s been obsessed with toilets since I got him. He likes to watch stuff go down them. I on occasion will find random wrappers, socks, toys etc in the potty. And he loves to watch you pee. He''s a weirdo, clearly.

Anyway, he''s having some urinary problems lately (at the vet now because of a blockage) and the other day I walked into the bathroom to find him squatting there on the toilet, straining like he was trying to go. I CRACKED UP!!! I don''t think he''ll ever do it again though
7.gif
I wish he would as it would make my life sooo much better to not have to clean a litter box!

TOO FUNNY!

hahaha I love these crazy animal stories!

My dog Chicken makes a ppppbbbrrtt type sound, like the sound of a chicken.

When Sadie was alive, she was amazingly adept at getting out of her kennel. We''d come home to JD''s house and she''d be sitting on the couch like haha sucka. He finally got to the point he had to put rebar on the sides and a logging chain around it. It looked so horrid but that''s the only way we could get her to stay in it.

After we got married we kept the kennel in the basement, and she seemed to accept the kennel so we didn''t go to the serious lengths to keep her in it, she just stayed. One morning, I got up to get ready for work, and as I walked into the kitchen, I heard a weird noise. We have a small cat door cut into the basement door...I looked down, and there''s Sadie. One front leg thru, then the other, then her head comes thru (this is a 40# pitbull btw). I crossed my arms and cleared my throat really loudly. "Ahem, you know, I can SEE you" ..She froze and looked up at me. Then her head went back thru the cat door, one leg, then the other, and then she ran downstairs and when I opened the door, she looked at me like, what-do you need something?

This is the same dog, that even after she lost one of her back legs, I found her on top of the kitchen table, eating food that had been left out. How she jumped up there is beyond me.

LOL awesome stories!

My kitty Cleo is super funny. If her litter box is not clean enough to her liking, she will stand in the hallway and cry until you look at her, then go into the bathroom and peek back out, like, "Don''t you SEE?!" She also will hook a paw in the edge of the cabinet doors and pull and let go, banging it, if she wants attention. She never eats people food other than a lick or two of ice cream or mayo, but she LOVES to smell it. So she jumps up on the back of my chair at dinner and leans in with her paw on my shoulder, while I blow gently into her nose so she can smell it. She''s funny!

She also has one really cool trick that she only does when she''s in the mood. We have three cats, and Cleo is the "mom". She grooms and follows them around like she is making sure they stay out of trouble. Well, sometimes if we can''t find one, we will ask her where that kitty is and she will take us to it. "Cleo, where''s Poofy?" and she will take off across the yard to wherever Poofy is hiding, and then look back at us, like, "Here she is!" She''s hilarious!

She knows when I am sick, too - she will come and lay on my belly all day if I am not feeling well.

I had a parakeet that meowed, and quite realistically, at that.

When I''d tell my kitty "I love you." she''d reach her paw out to touch my face and would meow back 3 times, as if to say "I love you" back to me. awww....I sure miss her.

I was actually thinking of training him to get the beer, but knowing my luck, he''d just drink it himself! Then I''d have a drunk doggy...

My sisters cat is a very large, very food focused nutered male. He is always finding new ways to steal food. We used to leave meat to defrost on the kitchen bench during the day but he liked to drag it off the bench and really enjoyed breaking the polyestrine tray the meeat comes on into as many bits as possible and trail them all through the house, as well as chow down some of the meat. After that, we always placed a large glass cassarol dish upside down on top of the meat so he couldn''t get to it...untill he figgured out how to push the dish off the bench onto the floor where it smashed, leaving the partially deforsted meat and polystrine tray unprotected. Now we have them lock in large plastic containers, which he is yet to crack.

We have had similar problems with the cats dry food. We used to put the bag or box of dry food in the bottem of the pantry and had no isses. My sisters cat then learned that by biting and ripping through the packet, he could enjoy a endless supply of dry food. After this, we moved the dry food up to a shelf we though he couldn''t reach. WRONG. After that we put all the dry food in those plastic cereal contaners. My sisters cat then figgured out that if he got onto the same shelf as the food and pushed the container off the shelf and onto the floor, five times out of ten, it would bust open and he would get food. These containers are now kept at the very top of the pantery.

THEN he went for the wet food. We buy the cats wet food in single serve sachets which come in cardbord boxes of 6 or 12. My sisters cat figgured out that, given a bit of time, he could open the boxes, bite through the sachet packets (Which are NOT thin) and enjoy a tastey snack while leaving a huge mess all over the floor of the pantry. The sachets of food, much like the meat, are now kept in a locked plastic container.

Other then that, if you open the pantry door he''ll make a run for it and hide in the back where we can''t get him or won''t see him so then, when we leave, he can have a good crack at those plastic containers. He also has no issues with hopping righting into the fridge or freezer when the door is opened.

One time we came home from grocery shopping and put all the shopping bags on the floor while we unloaded the food into it''s appropriate places. There we''re at least 4 of us in the room at the time and somehow, the cat had managed to break into a shopping bag, get hold of a massive, family sized frozen whole chicken, and without anyone seeing him, get it outside so he could start dismantiling the packaging. The chicken was almost as big as he was.

My dog Boris is usually quite an oaf, but he can be pretty stealth when he wants. Once I was leaving the house and had my car door open very briefly. FI was home so that''s why the dog was outside. I backed out of my driveway, pulled out of my road, and then my 90lb dog worked his way out from behind my seat where he was hiding, and all I saw was his head pop up in the rearview mirror. I have caught him sneaking into my car several times since.

My dog Hunter growing up was a real Houdini! He too would get out of his crate, and we have no idea how a 80+lb dog sneaks out of a latched wire crate. We''s get home and the crate was still locked, his collar was inside, and he was out. No scratched or injuries, just OUT.
33.gif
And ONE day, he got out of the crate AND the front door and was running the neighborhood!

He was the best dog ever.

My current dog is a great communicator, and I usually know what she wants if she needs something, but nothing super impressive. She''s just a drama queen

I think this thread is making me feel like my dogs are underachievers! All I can think of is that Petey loves tissue. Facial tissue, tp even just paper and wrappers. I have to make sure I close the bathroom door or else he will go in there and break the tp holder to get the roll off. It''s fairly often that I come home and find him doing this...

lol stepcutgirl! one of my cats (the one who creates all the mayhem in my earlier post) loves to chew on cardboard boxes. I did have a big stack of shoe boxes... not anymore! if I leave my door open at night, she''ll come in and chew on my kleenex box. what a goof!!

she is too funny though-- fancies herself a princess. We found out very quickly that she is crazy jealous of our homework. I will usually lay it out on the living room floor to work, and if I''m not paying attention to her for very long she will lay on my books or try to steal my pencils. Once she chewed up my sister''s math homework while she got up for a second. haha! never thought we could use the line "my cat ate my homework!" she is such a ham.

here she is all upset because I told her she shouldn't be laying on my stuff! what a brat! gotta love her though

My old cat, Gypsy, could open doors, assuming the knobs weren''t too tight: in one apartment, I went back to the hardware store enough time to get velcro, chains, baby-proofing items, you name it, that the guys who worked there started calling her Garfield. She was also a thief: she would steal any jewelry that you left out and hide it. My roommates never believed me, until one day when I was watching TV with one, she glanced across the room and saw my cat sashaying out of her bedroom with a gold necklace in her mouth. Glad she caught her at it - that could have been embarrassing! Good cat for a PS''r, though. :)

My current kitty, Sylvie, is more ... er, decorative (this is the one who''s gotten caught in the washing machine, btw), but she''s still sweet: the cutest thing she does is probably her Morning Ritual. She doesn''t wake me up, but after she hears me roll over in bed, every day she wants her 5 minutes of snuggling. Not clever (well, unless you think of emotional manipulation as clever

), but v. cute.

Hudson, this is TOO CUTE. I feel bad for Binks, but ... you have to love the thought process there! "Hm, this seems to work for the monkeys ...."

Our kitty Harlow can open the microwave.. we have left chicken breasts to thaw in there on more than one occasion which have been nibbled on- yuck

Lol! Sounds like someone knows how to get a warm chicken dinner from mom

!! Dannielle, it also sounds like you need to velcro your microwave the same way I do the fridge!!

A few months I go I went out of town to visit the FI. I had my neighbor, E, dog sit for me. We had my dogs in his place and he took me to the airport. He then went out to dinner with a friend. He was only gone from his place for no more than 2 hours....E went home and lo and behold, my husky had gotten into his fridge! Know what my dog had for dinner that evening?! The dog dragged out 2lbs of snow crab legs, opened the bag, cracked the shells, ate the meat, and spit the shells back out
11.gif
! Then he grabbed a carton of eggs (the kind that has a lid and two flops on the box), opened all 3 "lids" and broke 2 eggs and ate it as wel
23.gif
l! I think he was going for the rest and then E got home! He didn''t make a mess in anywhere but the kitchen! So, not only does E no longer dog sit my kids at his home
5.gif
, I also still owe him 2lbs of crab legs
4.gif
! Fortunately, they''re on sale at the grocery story so I should be repaying that debt today

This thread is hilarious.

One of my family''s dogs, Tallulah, is a very fit Border Collie mix who can jump clear over the six foot fence in their backyard from standing still. After doing this for a while, she learned to come around the house to the front door and hit the doorbell with her paw when she wanted to get back inside.

Shortly after we taught our own pup, Bailee, to play fetch, one of our kitties, Vince, started teaching us how to play fetch with him. He claimed a ribbon belt from a shirt of mine as his, and now he drags it all around the house with him. When he wants us to play fetch with it he trots over to us and drops the ribbon right onto our hands. If we don''t throw it right away, he starts to yell at us. HA! He must be able to read, too--he just dropped the ribbon on my keyboard and now he''s starting at me. Off to play fetch with my cat . . .

Lol! The things are pets can do!! My friend/neighbor has 2 cats and her youngest does this too! I call her catdog!!

I use to have an aquarium once in college. I had 5 tetra''s and I named them all!! The most memorable of the 5 was Kami (short for Kamikaze). He learned that if he jumped he had a chance of knocking food into the tank since I kept it on the lid of their tank. Ok, that was fine...to keep him from doing this, I put an actual glass lid on the open part of their aquarium. Didn''t want to do wire, since it could hurt them. Well, I had finals at one point and had to transport them in tupperware containers for the trip home to my parents. I had a friend watching the fishes. I was gone for maybe an hour...I came back and Kami fulfilled his name...the tupperware was lidless, and the food was nearby. He tried to get at it and he landed on the floor. Can you imagine a fish jumping to get to his food?! I didn''t until I ended up owning one that could and if you could imagine tetra''s aren''t that big...Me and my pets...

Boris wanted to go on a ride with you!!! He wanted to check out where mommy goes to everyday!!

I love these tales...or should that be tails?

Monkey (our pussycat) climbs the wall beside the front door and swings off the handle until it opens. He learned this when he was a teeny tiny kitten who always wanted another 5 mins outside. I would forget about him so he learned to let himself in.

My big dog, Daisy Chain, is a Border Collie mix. I swear that she understands every word I say. People often wonder why I speak to her as if she's a person, but I know she gets it.

She can also untwist the tops off of bottles of water. Then she puts the bottle in her mouth, rolls on her back with the bottle between her paws, and drinks.

My kitty will play fetch. She will chase a little wadded up piece of paper, and bring it back to me in her mouth, and drop it at my feet for me to throw again.

She can also open closet doors and cabinets.

My cat mimics me sometimes. If I go to stretch against a wall, he''ll do a stretch against the wall. Recently, he taught himself how to pee on the toilet and so now he has his own bathroom.

OMG, I so wish I could teach our cats to do that! So much less work! LOL

Our Haley knows how to open cabinets. One time I was in the guest bathroom and the base cabinet door opens and out she comes. I was totally shocked because I've not seen her do that before. There are towels in that cabinet so I think she went in there to take a nap.

Zoe makes really weird noises. She does not meow at all. She makes squeaking, chirping and whining noises and they change depending on how we're interacting with her. Almost like she's trying to talk back. She also makes a weird trilling noise in her throat without opening her mouth.

The other weird thing she does is drag her things around the house. One time we woke up to find her bed on our bed. We were totally confused thinking each other brought the bed up, but then quickly realized she did that when we were sleeping. She's also wedged that bed in between the supports of her kitty condo (takes a bit of force to do that). Another time we woke to find a full size blanket from our sofa on our bed. She also dragged my SIL's 3/4 length fur coat off the sofa one time. Luckily I caught right away! It's funny to watch though... she walks backwards and pulls it.
